Halloween, celebrated on October 31st, is a holiday rich in

history and tradition. Originating from the ancient Celtic

festival of Samhain, it marked the end of the harvest
season and the beginning of winter. Celts believed that on
this night, the boundary between the living and the dead
blurred, allowing spirits to roam the earth. To ward off
these spirits, people lit bonfires and wore costumes.

Today, Halloween is a festive occasion characterized by

activities such as trick-or-treating, costume parties, and
pumpkin carving. Children and adults alike dress up in
various costumes, ranging from spooky to whimsical.
Houses are often decorated with eerie themes, and
communities come together to celebrate.

The holiday has also become a significant cultural event,

influencing movies, literature, and art. Despite its ancient
origins, Halloween continues to evolve, blending old
traditions with new customs, making it a unique and
enduring celebration.
