FACULTY OF ENGINEERING
COURSE SYNOPSIS
Introduction to instrumentation and measurements; basic principles of instruments and measurements, process measurements and
control; Introduction to process control; Introduction to feedback control: the dynamic behaviour of feedback controlled processes;
Introduction to Feed-forward control: the dynamic behaviour of the feed-forward controlled processes; Cascade control systems;
Introduction to process systems dynamics.
Aims and Objectives of the Course: After successful completion of the course, the students should be able to:
name different types of measuring instruments and control processes used in chemical industrial processes
differentiate characteristics of measurement instruments and control systems of chemical industrial processes
explain the fundamental principles of process controls operations in various manufacturing and chemical processes
select the proper measuring instruments and automatic controls for chemical process industries
evaluate and design appropriate measuring devices and control systems for control of chemical industrial processes
