Information Processing Essentials - Assignment 2

Follow the steps properly!!!


Step 1 Create a New Folder and name it with your Student ID.

Step 2 Download the “0_Assignment 02.pdf” file.

Step 3 Download the following 6 files onto your newly created folder under Step 1.

1. 1_Text_data.txt
2. 2_CSV_data.csv
3. 3_JSON_data.json
4. 4_XML_Data.xml
5. 5_Excel_data.xlsx
6. 6_Access_data.accdb

Step 4 Download the Excel file which contains your Student ID as the file name
from the “File List” onto your newly created folder under Step 1.
Excel file details
The file name is your Student ID [Don’t Rename This File Name]
There are 7 worksheets as follows:-
Worksheet 1  Part 1 Worksheet 2  Part 2 Worksheet 3  Part 3
Worksheet 4  Part 4 Worksheet 5  Part 5 Worksheet 6  Part 6
Worksheet 7  Protected Sheet-Do NOT Delete

Note
This worksheet 7 is a required component of the assignment.
You will receive a mark of 0 (zero) if you delete or modify this worksheet.

Step 5 Check your downloads.

PART 1 – Text file data
Import Data (get external data) into your Excel Worksheet “Part 1” from the text file
“1_Text_data.txt” starting from the cell “A1”.

Find out the following values by using only Excel formulars and functions.

a) Maximum quiz marks [MAX]


b) Minimum quiz marks [MIN]
c) Number of male students [COUNTIF]
d) Number of female students [COUNTIF]

PART 2 – CSV file data


Import Data (get external data) into your Excel Worksheet “Part 2” from the csv file
“2_CSV_data.csv” starting from the cell “A1”.

Find out the following values by using only Excel formulars and functions.

a) Maximum quiz marks [MAX]


b) Minimum quiz marks [MIN]
c) The best male student’s average [MAXIFS]
d) The best female student’s average [MAXIFS]

PART 3 – JSON file data


Import Data (get external data) into your Excel Worksheet “Part 3” from the JSON file
“3_JSON_data.json” starting from the cell “A1”.

Enter a country name in D8 and get the corresponding ISO code in F8 by using only
Excel formulars and functions. [XLOOKUP]

PART 4 – XML file data
Import Data (get external data) into your Excel Worksheet “Part 4” from the XML file
“4_XML_Data.xml” starting from the cell “A1”.

Enter an ISO code in D8 and get the corresponding country name in F8 by using only
Excel formulars and functions. [XLOOKUP]

PART 5 – Excel file data


Import Data (get external data) into your Excel Worksheet “Part 5” from the Excel file
“5_Excel_data.xlsx” starting from the cell “A1”.

Find out the following values by using only Excel formulars and functions.

a) Maximum quiz 01 marks [MAX]


b) Minimum quiz 02 marks [MIN]
c) Number of students who scored 70 or more for "Average" [COUNTIF]
d) Number of cases where quiz marks exceed (more than) 90 [COUNTIF]

PART 6 – Access file data


Import Data (get external data) into your Excel Worksheet “Part 6” from the Access
file “6_Access_data.accdb” starting from the cell “A1”.

Find out the following values by using only Excel formulars and functions.

a) Number of students who got more than 80 for "Quiz 2" and "Quiz 4" [ COUNTIFS]
b) Number of students who got more than 70 for "Quiz 1" and "Quiz 3" [ COUNTIFS]
