PRESENTATION OF SOPRO UPDATE
SOPRO Update is a technology that keeps the SOPRO-Imaging application
permanently up-to-date as software improvements are released.
SOPRO Update necessarily requires an Internet connection, without which
SOPRO Update will not operate at all. If the Internet connection is not permanent,
SOPRO Update will have to be launched manually after making sure that the Internet
connection is active.
A permanent Internet connection allows one to benefit from the power of
SOPRO Update, which automatically checks for the presence of updates on our
servers.

To install the updates, you must absolutely have access to the original
SOPRO-Imaging CD-ROM, or to a directory that contains the original
installation files.

ACTIVATION OF SOPRO UPDATE


During the installation, SOPRO Imaging automatically places a SOPRO
Update icon in the start-up group. The SOPRO Update function will therefore launch
whenever Windows is started up.

If there is no Internet connection, it is possible to delete this icon; the


information contained in this document only applies with an Internet
connection.
If the Internet connection is not permanent, this icon can be deleted, at which
point it will be necessary to manually launch SOPRO Update.
SOPRO Update runs automatically whenever Windows is started up. The
presence of updates on our servers is automatically verified every 7 days.

In all cases, whether the Internet connection is permanent or not, it is possible
to have SOPRO Imaging manually check for the presence of a new version. To do
so, after having launched SOPRO Imaging and selected a patient, you have only to
click on SOPRO Update in the application’s Help menu.

SOPRO UPDATE WELCOME SCREEN


Once launched, SOPRO Update displays the following screen:

This screen is always in English; it indicates that SOPRO Update is going to


check on the Internet for the presence of an update and that it requires a valid
Internet connection as well as an operational Winsock layer (cf. above for the Internet
connection).
For the Winsock layer, this is theoretically not a problem with the Windows
versions supported by SOPRO Imaging (Windows 98 SE, Windows 2000 and
Windows XP or more recent). In the event that problems are encountered with regard
to this WinSock layer, it is suggested that you contact your IT retailer.
The second paragraph prompts you to press the “Next” button once the
Internet connection is active.

The “Advanced Settings” box is used by experienced users to enter
information regarding a Proxy that is to be used, and possibly to change the interval
between two verifications for updates. When you press the “Advanced” button, the
following screen is displayed:

In this screen, you can enter information regarding a Proxy server. It is


strongly recommended that this option will not be modified unless you are absolutely
familiar with operations of this type.
In all cases, it is possible to return to the “Use default proxy server” option in
case of error. By default, as indicated above, a check is made for new updates every
7 days, though it is possible to enter another value of your choice.

Clicking on “Next” will launch the search for updates.

SEARCH FOR UPDATES


This operation can take a certain amount of time, according to the Internet
connection speed, as well as the number of people connected to our servers.
In case of an error, the following screen is displayed:

There is no need to be alarmed:

1. If this message appears rarely or for the first time, you need only to try
again later, as the Internet and/or our servers may be overloaded.

2. If this message appears systematically, you will have to check your Internet
connection is working properly and whether or not it is necessary to enter
Proxy information.

3. If this still doesn’t work, you must click on the “Web Page” button in order
to display the online information on the SOPRO Imaging updates.
WARNING: If this doesn’t work either, there is certainly a problem with the
Internet connection; the help of an IT technician will then be required in
order to resolve this problem.

When the update search takes place properly, but the latest software version
is already installed, the following screen appears:

Congratulations, your SOPRO-Imaging software is already up-to-date, you can


use it with peace of mind.

Finally, if a new version is available on our servers, the following screen


appears:

Clicking on “Next” will initiate the downloading and installation of the update.

DOWNLOADING AND INSTALLATION
Downloading the update can take a certain amount of time, depending on the
update’s size, the speed of the Internet connection and the traffic both over the
Internet and on our servers. While downloading, the following screen appears:

This screen indicates the progress of the download, and gives a more or less
accurate estimate of the remaining time. Once the downloading is completed, the
following screen appears:

This screen confirms the end of the downloading and prompts you to click on
“Finish” to launch the installation.

A few windows will briefly open, indicating the start of the installation phase,
followed by the welcome screen, which is exactly the same as the one that was
displayed when the original software was installed.

WARNING: As of this point, you must absolutely be able to insert the original
CD-ROM. If this is not the case, all of the above will have been for naught.

Click on “Next” to launch the installation phase. During this phase, this
progress screen appears:

The duration of the installation phase depends on many factors, such as the
update’s size and the computer speed. Once the installation is completed, this
confirmation screen appears:

Click on “Finish”.

In all cases, the update procedure will recommend that you restart the system;
this should preferably be done right away, if this will not create a problem for other
workstations that may be installed on a network.

To restart the system and complete this update operation, simply click on
“yes”. The following screen appears:

Congratulations, your SOPRO Imaging software is now up-to-date,


providing you with the benefit of all improvements and patches.
