28 In a class test, the sum of Vinu ’s marks in Mathematics and English is 30. Had she got 2 marks 3
more in Mathematics and 3 marks less in English, the product of their marks would have been
210. Find her marks in the two subjects.

31 In a circle of radius 21 cm, an arc subtends an angle of 60° at the centre. Find: 3

SECTION –D

32 A two digit number is seven times the sum of its digits. The number formed by reversing the 5
digits is 18 less than the given number. Find the given number.

33 The angles of depression of two ships from the top of a light house and on the same side of it are 5
found to be 45° and 30°. If the ships are 200 m apart, find the height of the light house.
(OR)
Two poles of equal heights are standing opposite each other on either side of the road, which is
80 m wide. From a point between them on the road, the angles of elevation of the top of the poles
are 60° and 30°, respectively. Find the height of the poles and the distances of the point from the
poles.
34 In the figure, a ∆ABC is drawn to circumscribe a circle of radius 3 cm, such that the segments 5
BD and DC are respectively 6 cm, 9 cm of lengths. If the area of ∆ABC is 54 cm2, then find the
lengths of sides AB and AC.

35 The mean of the following frequency distribution is 53. But the frequencies f1 and f2 in the classes 5
20-40 and 60-80 are missing. Find the missing frequencies:

Our elder brother wants to buy a car and plans to take loan from a bank for his car. He repays
his total loan of Rs 1,18,000 by paying every month starting with the first instalment of Rs 1000.
If he increases the instalment by Rs 100 every month , answer the following:

1.Find the amount paid by him in the 30th instalment.

2. Find the amount paid by him in the 30 instalments.

3. What amount does he still have to pay offer 30th instalment? (OR)

If total instalments are 40 then amount paid in the last instalment?

The Great Stupa at Sanchi is one of the oldest stone structures in India, and an important
monument of Indian Architecture. It was originally commissioned by the emperor Ashoka in the
3rd century BCE. Its nucleus was a simple hemispherical brick structure built over the relics of

the Buddha. .It is a perfect example of combination of solid figures. A big hemispherical dome
with a cuboidal structure mounted on it. (Take π = 22/7)
a) Calculate the volume of the hemispherical dome if the height of the dome is 21 m
b) Find the cloth require to cover the hemispherical dome if the radius of its base is
14m
c) Find the total surface area of the combined figure i.e. hemispherical dome with
radius 14m and cuboidal shaped top with dimensions 8m 6m 4m (OR)
The volume of the cuboidal shaped top is with dimensions mentioned in above

Vijay is trying to find the average height of a tower near his house. He is using the properties of
similar triangles. The height of Vijay’s house if 20m when Vijay’s house casts a shadow 10m long
on the ground. At the same time, the tower casts a shadow 50m long on the ground and the house
of Ajay casts 20m shadow on the ground.
1.What is the height of the tower?
2. What is the height of Ajay’s house?
3. What will be the length of the shadow of the tower when Vijay’s house casts a shadow of 12m?
(OR)
When the tower casts a shadow of 40m, same time what will be the length of the shadow of
Ajay’s house?
