On the new identity, Charles Wright, managing director, Wolff Olins told afaqs!, 'Hero has become an
iconic brand in India. The task we had at hand was to build on the image of an Indian company going
international'. It took over 3-4 months for Wolff Olins to create a new brand identity for Hero. 'The
colour red in the logo depicts continuity and change. It also depicts confidence. There is an 'H' formed in
the logo. The angular formation of 'H' symbolises that Hero is no longer dependent on foreign expertise
for its brands. It will be focussing on its own engineering capablities. ' The position that Hero Motocorp
will strive to acquire out of this new identity is 'Catapult'-a motorcycle can penetrate into your minds and
transform lives.
Although Hero Honda group has been associated with many scooters and motorcycles like the Karizma,
Splendor Pro, Hunk, Glamour, Passion Pro and Glamour F1, the company under its name Hero Motocorp
launched its first bike called Hero Impulse in November 2011. The next year saw some very new
products that had better mileage and drive ability along with improved power. These new models were
Ignitor, for the younger generation and Maestro, promoted as a masculine scooter.
In the year 2013, the company updated fifteen products. These were Glamour FI, Karizma R, Glamour,
Passion Xpro, ZMR, Passion Pro, Hero Motocorp Super Splendor, HF Deluxe ECO, Splendor iSmart,
Pleasure, Xtreme and Splendor Pro. It introduced the technology of Engine Immobilizer in Extreme and
the integrated system of braking in Pleasure.
In the year 2014, Hero Motocorp added some new products in its kitty like the Xtreme Sports, Splendor
Pro Classic and new and better models of Pleasure, Maestro, Karizma R and ZMR. Later the company also
updated Splendor Pro and Passion Pro.
HMC’s New Logo and Tagline
Hero MotoCorp’s new logo and tagline was revealed in London at the time of unveiling its global identity.
We had posted the image of the logo in the previous write up but still here is a clear image of the logo
and we will also tell you about the tagline.
The earlier tagline of Hero Honda was ‘Dhak Dhak Go’ and with the name change to Hero MotoCorp,
the new one is now ‘Hum Main Hai Hero’ which just means ‘There is a Hero in Every one of us’. There is
also a theme song or a music, which is composed by A.R.Rehman. The company has really shed out a
lot of money to prove itself as a separate company following Honda’s exit.
The new brand, according to Mr Pawan Munjal, Managing Director and CEO, Hero MotoCorp,
epitomises and symbolizes continuity and change. According to Business Line, ‘The new logo stands for
the new face of India – that youthful energy and ‘can do’ spirit’. “It is in true sense the Indian catapult,
which signals that while it is deeply rooted in Indian values, it is also poised to go for global expansion –
a Leap of faith,” he said.
Hero had worked with Wolff Olins which is a part of the Omnicom group, to work on the new brand
identity and had also engaged Law & Kenneth as a creative partner to give shape to the communication
for launching and establishing the new brand.
Also mentioned is the fact that the company’s exports to new markets will be under the Hero name,
while those to the existing markets of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Columbia will continue to be under the
Hero Honda brand.
Brand Identity
1.Reliability
Hero Splendor Classic Initial Reliability Report
Hero has introduced the Splendor Classic, a 100cc bike that looks like a caf racer. Now, this idea didnt go
that well into me until I saw the bike. It does look stylish and made several heads turn around. When the
bike first, a lot of people came to me to know more about it. I was astonished as I havent been ever
asked so much even about a sports car that we have reviewed. The Splendor Classic is a concept thought
over by a genius and I know understand the popularity of the bike.
This is a bike that has changed how people look at 100cc bikes. Its styling gets full marks as always makes
heads turn around. The Splendor Classic has just come in and like the styling and the touches it has got.
For the size and the price tag, it is worth each and every buck. Just it isnt very practical as it is a single
seater. We have ridden the bike previous and we think this is ideal for city riding.
The Spendor Classic has a 97cc single-cylinder engine, which is Heros oldest and most frugal motor. This
engine hasnt received any changes and the strongest point of it are its drivability (without having to
change gears that often) and its mileage. It is too early to speak on the mileage as we have hardly ridden
the bike. The Splendor Classic has sufficient power to ride in the city and this is ideal for riding in busy
lanes. I have ridden the bike only for 40 kilometres so far, but I like it. I do not ride small bikes, but these
are very easy to ride in conjusted traffic.
The Splendor Classic is the same Splendor beneath the skin. I havent ridden it much, but one can feel
there isnt much of difference between the two. This is the highest selling bike in the country and a tweak
in the styling has been helpful. In our next report, we will tell you how has the bike performed in the city,
its mileage and its reliability too.
2.Constant mileage
Hero motorcorp is the one of most trustable company of india it bike are commonly famous for it better
mileage it is the one of the favorite bike company on the indians.
3.Comfort riding
If comfort is of prime importance in this tight budget, you should go for hero bikes. These bikes are really
comfortable bike. In case you want more comfort, you can always upgrade your seats and fill more
cousins in it. The pillion seat on the bike really needs some cousining. The comfort will increase after
break-in of the engine i.e. after 1500 kilometres on the odometer. You must maintain the bike well so
that it remains comfortable for its entire lifetime.
If you are more of a highway tourer, your first choice should be a second hand Hero Honda karizma r (the
old model which is not into production anymore) which is a boon for people suffering from back pain.
4.Reasonable price
Hero bikes price starts at Rs. 39,470 for the cheapest bike HF Dawn and goes up to Rs. 1.11 lakh for the
top model Hero Karizma ZMR. Hero offers 19 new bike models in India. Splendor Plus (Rs. 50,050), HF
Deluxe (Rs. 39,900) and Super Splendor (Rs. 57,200) are among the popular bikes from Hero. In the year
2018/2019, Hero is going to launch 5 new models in India. Select a Hero bike to know the latest offers in
