Instructions

1. This paper consists of Sections A and B with a total of fourteen (14) questions.
2. Answer all questions
3. Each question in section A carries six (06) marks while each question in section B
carries ten (10) marks.

6. All communication devices and calculators are not allowed in assessment room.

SECTION A (60 Marks)
Answer all questions in this section.

john are competing for a certain managerial post at a certain company. Their
probability of getting the post is 0.5 and 0.4 respectively. Find the probability
that the company will get a manager?
4. (a) a ship left point P(10 S,40 E) and sailed due to East for 90hours at an average
speed 0f 24knots to a point R (given 1nautical mile (nm) to be 1.853km and radius
of the earth to be 6370km)
(i) calculate the distance between P and R in km
(ii) determine the position of point R
(iii) find local time, to the nearest minutes, at point R when the time at P is
10:00am

7. (a) Mr. Omary went to the supermarket and bought two Notebooks and five pens at
Tsh.1200. whereas three Notebooks and two pens cost him Tsh.1140. Find the cost of
each Notebook and pen
(b) Kassimu started the business on 16th February, 2024 with capital in cash

February 17 bought goods for cash for 1,000,000/=
19 bought Shelves for cash 110,000/=
20 sold goods for cash 900,000/=

8. The first term of an athematic progression (AP) is equal to the first term of Geometric
progression (GP). The second term of the AP is equal to the fourth term of the GP
while the tenth tem of the AP is equal to the seventh term of the GP.
