User Inter face

 Elevation view ( need) –plan view - window list – add new window – new window ( add)
 In new window ( 3-D view ) click – set elevation view ( symbol - ( e l ey) – we need grid A
elevation -click A – apply
 We can add or remove in quick asses tool bar – end of the quick asses tool bar left click – we can
add or remove
 Plan view – we still in story 4 – we can change the story – move and down list ( arrow symbol) –
click and change
 We change the window to go 3-d view ,plan view , elevation view ( click the window -change )

Structural modeling

 G plus 2 building or more == wind load , earth quick , dead load , applied load applied

 file – new model – use built in setting with - display unit = metric si

steel section data base =

steel design code =

concrete design code =

 ok
 in plan = if uniform grid space we select add put
= if not – custom grid spacing – edit grid data – ( x – 3, y -4 ) so we remove the D grid in x
grid - delete ( if add we click the add )
 in x A = 0 , B = 0+ b = , C = 0+b+c like y
 we can change the bubble size
 ok

 story dimensions - equal elevation – simple story data if not custom story data

 bottom story height = plinth beam to foundation

 number of story = bottom story + gf + 1st f …..

( if have gl and 1st fl and 2nd fl ==== number of story = n+1 ( as bottom of story ) ok

Draw grid then

 draw the beam , slab , column
 first we select dimension , material for beam, slab , column
 define -section property – frame section – properties – con bm– modify /show property
name we can change –
 material – concrete so - … add material – select one material – modify /show material - canhge
the name – concrete – type concrete –
 design property data – modify /show material property – add the concrete grade -ok-ok
 material – concrete - , shape , depth , width
 reinforcement – modify /show rebar – design type -beam -ok – ok

like wise we do for column

we do for slab

 define – section property – slab section – slab 1 – modify /show property –

 name , material , modelling type – shell thin , thickness (change ) , ok-ok

draw

story 4 – draw beam( ) -start point click and end point click

for quick – quick draw beams ( ) select – properties of object - property – con bm – we can draw
beam if need palace to click

or left click all ( draw a rectangular )

we can draw all story – bottom – one story – similar story - – quick draw beams ( ) select –
properties of object - property – con bm- left click all ( draw a rectangular )

esc

draw column

 quick draw colunm ( ) select – properties of object - property – con col - we can draw all
story – bottom – one story – similar story- left click all ( draw a rectangular )-esc

draw slab
 Draw floor / wall – start draw and finish at the start

 Quick - === quick draw floor/ wall – move one slab – click

 Or - - we can draw all story – bottom – one story – similar story- left click all ( draw a
rectangular )-esc

APPLIED LIVE LOADS AND DEAD LOADS

 LIVE LOAD APPLIED = slab and beam

 Self load = we do not apply it is give

Floor finish in slab

 Select -select – object type – floor – close –

 Assign – shell loads – uniform-load pattern – dead - uniform – load –( thickness * finish w) -apply
– ok we can show in 3d view by click the 3-d

Live load apply

 Select -select – object type – floor – close –

 Assign – shell loads – uniform-load pattern – live -apply – ok

Beam applied

In beam wall loads can contribute

Outer beam

 Similar story – (select outer beam ) –(- select all outer wall by click one by one) – assign – frame
load – distributed load – load pattern (wall) – dead – trapezoidal load(no so do not add load ) –
uniform load – wall thickness* wall height *wall w- apply – ok

Wall height = story height -beam height

Inner beam ( partition wall)

 Similar story – (select all inner beam )- assign – frame load – distributed load – load pattern
(wall) – dead –– uniform load – wall thickness* wall height *wall w- apply – ok
Earth quake loading

 Define – load pattern – type earth quake -eq x

 Type – seismic-
 Auto lateral load – select the code – add new load
 – type earth quake -eq y Type – seismic- Auto lateral load – select the code – add new load

Select eq x – modify lateral load – un tick the x directions and eccentricity

Story range – bottom story 1 ( earth quake not affect foundation) put the para meters by codes

Wind load

 First we create walls ( zero mass wall)

 Create elevation view – add new window – elevation – quick draw floors /walls – property –
none ( mass =0 )- one story( bottom) -draw full rectangular for each elevation
 Define – load pattern- type wind load – x , y
 Wind x – modify – exposure from shell objects - by code wind coefficient add – bottom story –
story 1

Windward wall – wind affect side

Leeward wall – opposite wall

 Create elevation view – add new window – elevation –a – select all walls – ( similar select all )
 Assign – shell loads – wind pressure coefficient – select wind x or y – wind ward or leeward - -
coefficient- put
 Select other elevation add do

Load combination

 By codes
Define – load combination -add default design combos-concrete frame design – convert to user
combinations -ok- can select anyone
Or its not earth quakes so we create
Define – load combination- add new combo – name – add combo -select one combo – ok

Analysis
 No need factor load for foundation
 Create support for base – plan view – select base z – select the joints – create
rectangular hole grid –
 Assign – joint – restraints-select one fast restraint -select fix -apply – ok

Analys
 Analyze – run analyze -or play button ( 3d window) show bending moments
 Elevation window -show deformed shape – change load combination and see 3d ,
elevation , plan view
 Draw maximum displacement vs displace ment graph
 Display – story response plots – bottom indicate max value –

 Moment and shear force

 Elevation window – display frame /pier / spandrel – select load case – component –
shear 22 , moment 33 = major,,,, shear 33,moment 22 = minor

Minors are less so we consider major

= click moment 33 - apply -if want to need value = - display options – click – apply

Slab messing
 Un Lock the model - click in 3d view – select – select -object type -floors – select - -close
 Assign – shell - floor auto mesh options – mess object into – 20 ,20-apply -ok
 Analyze – check shear force
 You can check axial forces, torsion also
 We can see for one element = go to element – right click- can change the load case and
minor or major cases also- display location – show max – only max - , scroll and see

 Reaction and moment in support

 click 3d view -display support / spring reactions- select any load case – fz , mx, my, mz –
apply - plot type arow or tabulated – tabulated give the values

 design reacton – display -show table –analyze - results – reactions – design reactions –
give a table ( give maximum reactions)

concrete frame design

 add steel property = define – material property – A615GR16 – MODIFY – change yje
name -material type ( rebar ) -design property data – modify – add yield , ultimate-
expected value = plastic ( *1.1) – ok -ok-ok

 Size of rebar = define – section property – reinforcing bar sizes -clear all bars -add
common bar -si – click if need delete – ok

Concrete design
 Analyze button – design -concrete frame design – select design combination – ( we
select design combination ( use only factor loads ) – select the all factor loads from list
of combination – OK

 Concrete frame design ( 3d view ) -

 we can see in elevation view = in elevation view - design -concrete frame design- display
design info – design output – longitudinal reinforcing -ok – its give reinforcement area

 we can check design pass for all members = – design -concrete frame design- verify all
members passed – it show how many members failed = we can see them =- - in
elevation view it red colour are fail ( we can change the elevation and check ) ((reason
grade of concrete less and column size less) so

 -check load combination - , we can see the % of rebar -=- design -concrete frame design-
display design info – design output -rebar % and see
 1. Increase grade of concrete

 Unlock the model – define – material property – concrete – modify /show

material – design property data - modify /show material- increase the grade – ok
-ok -ok

2. increase the column section

 Define – section property – frame properties- column - - modify /show material-
increase the depth size –ok
design -concrete frame design- select design combination – check

Know we check = Concrete frame design ( 3d view

design -concrete frame design- verify all members passed

select one column – right click – we can see details -summary (see)

Design of stair case

 if stair case design the loads are applied in beam and column so then we design
 = if we create a stair case so we delete the slab needed place ==

 all stories – plan view – needed slab select – delete –

 hide the side walls –= select- select – object type – walls – ( can’t select as the
walls are zero mass walls) – so select null areas – select –

 in 3d view - right click – hide select objects - all are hide

 we create the stair case story 1 to story 2 then above replicate

 we ca create landing so we create a ref plane in story 1 ( half of 1st story )

 edit - edit stories and grid systems – modify /show grid system- click to modify
show – reference plane- add – height – ok -ok – (we can see the ref line in 3d
view )

 plane view – reference plane – ok – ( one story ) –(we create beam for stair
case ) =- ( if need midlanding beam) – quick draw beam – touch needed place –

 we need 1m slab from that beam
