Theory:
Ms Word is the most popular word processing software used today to save and store
documents, copy and paste functions, to add images and shapes to documents, and many
more.
This software is used to create, edit, and format written documents in the workplace, at
school, and at home. Examples include personal and formal business letters, resumes,
coversheets, and homework. Figure 1.1 shows a home screen of ms-word with all notations.
1) Office button: you can see and use file menu options by clicking office button.
2) Ribbon: the ribbon is designed to help you quickly find the commands that you need to
complete a task. Commands are organized in logical groups, which are collected together
under tabs.
3) Tab selector button: the tab selector is located above the vertical ruler on the left. Hover
over the tab selector to see the name of the type of tab that's active.
4) Rulers: it displays a ruler around the edge of the document. This ruler, which typically uses
inches or centimeters as the measurement unit, shows how large the document will be when
printed.
6) Status bar: the status bar would typically display information about the cursor's position
within the document and often offer additional functionality, like quick access to commonly
used word processing commands.
7) Task bar: the taskbar allows the user to locate and launch programs through the start button
or view any program that is currently open.
8) View shortcuts: word provides shortcuts for most often used functions of word like print
layout, weblayout, draft etc.
9) Zoom slide: you can zoom in and out in your word document using this.
10) View ruler button: this is used to show or hide the rulers.
11) Select screen button: you can select your screen using this.
13) Right indent: start (a line of text) or position (a block of text) further from the margin
than the main part of the text in right side.
15) Quick launch bar dialog box launcher: quickly launches the dialog box associated with it
for work.
17) Quick access toolbar: allows user to access various tools of ms word easily.
19) First line indent: a first-line in-dent is the most com-mon way to sig-nal the start of a new
para-graph.
20) Hanging indent: a hanging indent is also known as a hanging paragraph. With many word
processors, you can create hanging indents by specifying a negative indentation for the first
line of each paragraph.
