Web Development Life Cycle

Goal:

Learn the steps to create a website by acting out its development process.

What to Do:

1. Learn the Steps (5 minutes):

There are 5 steps to making a website:

1. Planning: Decide the goal and purpose of the website.

2. Analysis: List the content and features the site will have.
3. Design: Sketch a simple layout (how the pages look).
4. Testing: Check for errors and make sure everything works.
5. Implementation: Put the website online.

2. Assign Roles (5 minutes):

Each group member takes one role: Planner, Analyst, Designer, Tester, or Implementer.

3. Role-Play (20 minutes):

1. Planner: Write down the website’s goal and purpose. Example: A school website for
announcements.
2. Analyst: List the pages and features (e.g., a “Contact Us” form).
3. Designer: Draw a basic layout (use rectangles and labels for parts like “Header” and
“Image”).
4. Tester: Think of problems to fix (e.g., slow loading, broken links).
5. Implementer: Decide where to host the site (e.g., free hosting) and what tools to
use (like Notepad++).

4. Make a Plan (10 minutes):

Combine your group’s work into one clear website plan:

1. Purpose
2. Pages and features
3. Design sketch
4. Hosting plan

5. Present to the Class (5 minutes per group):

Share your website plan and explain how your group worked together.
