(ii) If 𝑓(𝑥) = 𝑥 + 5 and 𝑔(𝑥) = |𝑥|, find (𝑓 ∘ 𝑔)(−4) and (𝑔 ∘ 𝑓)(−4)

8. Show that (𝑓 ∘ 𝑔)(𝑥) = 𝑥 and (𝑔 ∘ 𝑓)(𝑥) = 𝑥

b). (i) If 𝑓(𝑥) = 3𝑥 − 4 and 𝑔(𝑥) = 𝑎𝑥 + 𝑏 , find the conditions of 𝑎 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑏 such

that (𝑓𝑜𝑔)(𝑥) = (𝑔𝑜𝑓)(𝑥).

(ii) If 𝑓(𝑥) = 𝑥 2 + 1 and 𝑔(𝑥) = √𝑥 − 1 . Find the domain and inverse of

(𝑓𝑜𝑔)(𝑥) and (𝑔𝑜𝑓)(𝑥).


c) . If 𝑓(𝑥) = 1 − 𝑥 2 and (𝑥) = √𝑥 . Find (𝑔𝑜𝑓)(𝑥) and (𝑓𝑜𝑔)(𝑥) and their domains

d). Show that the function 𝑓 defined by 𝑓(𝑥) = 𝑥⁄ 2 ,𝑥 ∈ 𝑅, is a bijection on R on to
