COURSE SYLLABUS IN KEYBOARDING AND DOCUMENT PROCESSING

Vision: The Luis H. Dilanco Sr. Foundation College, Inc. (LHDSFCI) shall be a Center of Excellence in Science, Technology,
Business and Teacher Education in Camarines Sur. It shall render teaching, research and extension services to its clientele
thereby providing additional impetus to the socio-economic growth and development of the province.

Mission: The Luis H. Dilanco Sr. Foundation College, Inc. (LHDSFCI) shall provide high quality education and training to its students
at affordable costs for enhanced labor productivity and responsible citizenship. It shall inculcate sense of nationalism and
patriotism, and readiness to global competition. It shall also focus on research and development undertakings.

II. Course Description

With the aim of giving teaching and learning experience to teachers, students, as well as some other community develops, social
workers, and others doing extension and community services, this work text is conceptualized and realized.

This book is divided into (2) two parts:

1. Common module – Enhancing Awareness of Social Issues and Problems; and


2. Specific Module – Developing Oneself Through Community Involvement.
At the end of each chapter are worksheets, which will be answered by the students. These will serve as a form of evaluation on
the extent of learning they have gained from each chapter.
This course hopes to fulfill the objectives of the National Service Training Program (NSTP): (a) to bring back the awareness of
students, as well as mentors, of various time traits and values, namely, civic responsibility, patriotism, leadership, assertiveness,
concern for people, and environment, and (b) to be active mobilizers of the community, working together to solve problems and issues
confronting them.
III. Institutional Learning Outcomes:

Knowledge: The Louiesians actuates the gift of education as an arm to gain new knowledge and understanding.
Skills: The Louiesians possess the necessary skills to perform the tasks in the real world of work.
Discipline: The Louiesians lives a life of exemplary integrity by cultivating an upright culture of discipline.

IV. Course Learning Outcomes:


At the end of this modular unit, the students are expected to:
 Master the keyboard by touch;
 Type a minimum of 34-45 wpm on a 5-minutes timed writing with 5 or fewer errors.
 Demonstrate good work habits, acceptable typing techniques, and skills in using the computer.
 Correct errors in the content and format of documents.
 Demonstrate skills in proofreading, punctuation, grammar, spelling, and keyboard composing.
Exhibit proficiency in encoding business documents including letters, memoranda, tables and reports, manuscript and financial
reports using word processing and spread sheet.
 Acquaint students with different typing jobs from different officers.

VI. Course Policy

 Attendance will be checked by the instructor every meeting.


 The grace period for late comers would be 15 minutes. Beyond that, the student will be considered absent.
 Three instances of tardiness would be equivalent to one absent.
 If the student is scheduled to do an oral presentation or report but failed to come on time, the class will not wait for that student and
that student will loss the chance face to report unless he/she made prior arrangement or notice regarding his/her absence or
tardiness.
 Term paper, projects, research works or artifacts/portfolios must be strictly submitted as scheduled.
 Failure to submit them on scheduled deadline would mean a failing grade and would no longer be accepted.
 A student who failed to take a periodical examination will be given a chance to take a special examination. However, after the lapse of
the special examination period and the student still failed to take the exams, he/she would be given a grade 40.
 Mobile phones shall be turned off or set to silent or vibrate mode during class hours to avoid disruptions. Accepting calls is acceptable
only during legitimate emergencies. Sending text messages during a class is also prohibited.
 Food and beverages are not allowed during class hours. Those must be consumed in designated areas only.
 Too much talking and other disruptive behaviors are not permitted while classes are in session.
