SIRSHOTHEVENIN

The document presents a lab report by Sirsho Biswas on verifying Thevenin's Theorem experimentally. It includes a circuit diagram, required equipment, experimental data comparing measured and theoretical values, and observations regarding the application of the superposition theorem. Key findings highlight the conditions for applying theorems and the importance of safely handling circuit components.

BASIC ELECTRICAL LAB REPORT
OBSERVATIONS

1. What are the conditions in application of superposition theorem ?

Ans: The circuit elements must be linear. This means the elements (e.g., resistors,
capacitors,
inductors) should obey Ohm's law or a linear relationship between voltage and current.
Non-linear components like diodes, transistors, or other semiconductor devices violate this
condition
and cannot be used.

2. Can we apply superposition theorem to AC circuits ?

Ans: Yes, we can apply but the condition is that it must be linear.

3. Can this theorem be applied to network which contains non-linear resistance?

Ans: No. Superposition theorem is not applicable to networks containing non linear
resistance
like capacitors, inductors.

4. Explain why it is advisable to remove the source and complete the circuit by a link instead
of short-circuiting the terminals of the supply ?

Ans: Short-circuiting a voltage source across its own terminals creates a low-resistance
path. This
can cause:
● A surge of current through the source.
● Damage to the source or circuit components.
● Heat generation or safety hazards like sparks or explosions.

5. Write the appropriate range of meters used in the circuit diagram ?

Ans: Multimeter: AC voltage- (2-750)V

DC voltage- (200m-1000)V
Resistance (200-2000M) ohm
DC current – (10-20 µ)A
AC current –(10-200µ)A
