DTI AngleBlaster Operator’s Manual
1.1. Introduction
DTI AngleBlaster™ is a self contained setup navigation system utilized in angular or plain blast
pattern developments. It accurately duplicates the angle and direction of the first hole for the
remainder of the pattern without any operator's interaction. The first hole angle data is stored for
future recall regardless of time the drill is away from the worksite.

The operator uses touch screen instructions to transfer precise angular setup information from the
first selected hole to the remainder of the pattern without having to leave the cab or make any
adjustments to specific mine oriented reference points.

The system measures and determines the next hole setup angles regardless of the positioning of
the drill insuring that all blast holes are parallel and in the same plane.

The DTI Dual Axis Angle Indication sensor allows the operator to arrive at a precise angle by
allowing both Ring and Dump movement angles, as well as a combination of the both, (known as
compound movement angles). The results are accurate drilling (less bad holes), time and cost
saving, record and data storage.

The following guide will explain the features, setup, and operation of the DTI AngleBlaster basic
system. Consult your dealer for additional options.

NOTE: All screen buttons are pressure (touch) sensitive.

1.3.1. Zero-Offset Calibration Procedure

It is recommended to periodically perform this procedure to check the accuracy of the RING and
DUMP angles.

Regular operation of the mast’s moving components could cause mast/drill rod misalignment.

To check your alignment, bring the mast to the vertical position (side to side and front to back) and
verify the position a square. If the readings on the screen are other than 0.0 for RING and DUMP,
then the DTI AngleBlaster has to be calibrated according to the following procedure.

RING & DUMP READINGS

SHOULD BE AT ZERO.
IF NOT, THE ZERO-OFFSET
HAS TO BE CALIBRATED.

To calibrate the Zero-Offset perform the following steps:

1. Bring both axis of the mast to the most

vertical position (plum) on a level surface.
2. Check the angle with a square and correct
the mast position to a 90° vertical angle.
3. Once the mast is vertical, press SYSTEM
SETUP button on the MAIN MENU
screen.

1.7. Local and Absolute Heading Measurements

The DTI AngleBlaster is equipped with gyroscopic

sensing technology designed to deliver accurate
measurement of horizontal movement. The sensor
head of the DTI system is highly receptive to
changes in the intensity and direction of the earth’s
magnetic field, therefore discrepancies between
local and absolute azimuth could be present. Use
heading values as reference only. If absolute
horizontal positioning is required, (within 1 inch or
30mm), please ask your dealer about the DTI-GPS
Navigational System. The DTI-GPS Navigational
System is not affected by magnetic fields.
