The following three hazard signal words are used throughout this manual to emphasize
important instructions. For the purpose of this manual, these signal words are defined as follows:
The operator uses touch screen instructions to transfer precise angular setup information from the
first selected hole to the remainder of the pattern without having to leave the cab or make any
adjustments to specific mine oriented reference points.
The system measures and determines the next hole setup angles regardless of the positioning of
the drill insuring that all blast holes are parallel and in the same plane.
The DTI Dual Axis Angle Indication sensor allows the operator to arrive at a precise angle by
allowing both Ring and Dump movement angles, as well as a combination of the both, (known as
compound movement angles). The results are accurate drilling (less bad holes), time and cost
saving, record and data storage.
The following guide will explain the features, setup, and operation of the DTI AngleBlaster basic
system. Consult your dealer for additional options.
RING GAUGE: Values indicate left to right DUMP GAUGE: Values indicate back
vertical angle of mast, expressed in and forth vertical angle of mast, expressed
decimal degrees (-45° to +45°) in decimal degrees (-45° to +45°)

AZIMUTH GAUGE:
Values indicate horizontal AUTO TRACK: Automatically
movement, expressed in tracks TARGET function every
decimal degrees (0° to 360°) second. Actual and target angle
match at the tip of the drill rod.

WARNING
Before disconnecting the main battery switch, the DTI AngleBlaster system
has to be “SHUT DOWN” first. Angle data will be stored in the DTI system.
On the MAIN MENU screen, press the “SHUT DOWN” button as shown
above. Power outages can cause errors or problems in operation. Usually, a
simple system restart could fix the problem.
WARNING
BEFORE DRILLING THE FIRST HOLE.
To insure accuracy, it is important to perform the following procedure.
It is recommended to periodically perform this procedure to check the accuracy of the RING and
DUMP angles.
Regular operation of the mast’s moving components could cause mast/drill rod misalignment.
To check your alignment, bring the mast to the vertical position (side to side and front to back) and
verify the position a square. If the readings on the screen are other than 0.0 for RING and DUMP,
then the DTI AngleBlaster has to be calibrated according to the following procedure.
NOTICE
NOTICE
Do not press the CLEAR button as this will clear the ZERO-OFFSET and step
5 and 6 will have to be repeated. CLEAR re-activates RING & DUMP buttons
and Zero-Offset will be lost and will have to be recalibrated.
It is important to remember that the HEADING position of the drill body does not have to be
recorded or tracked because the RING, DUMP and related HEADINGS values are stored in the
system’s memory. The mast can be moved in any direction in order to make the best approach to
the next hole, increasing productivity and accuracy.
1.6. Warnings
Both the ring and dump have the “OUT OF RANGE” feature. A orange bar appears which warns
when the sensor is approaching it’s range limit.

NOTICE
NOTICE
Magnetic fields or large iron metal mass close to or around the sensor will
affect the accuracy of the AZIMUTH (Heading) reading. Electrical motors,
coils, generators, permanent magnetic parts and solenoids radiate magnetic
fields strong enough to affect accurate readings of the earth’s magnetic
field.
