these principles to analyze energy conservation, spontaneous processes, and
the performance of thermodynamic cycles in various systems.
2. Analyze and Evaluate Properties and Processes of Pure Substances
o CLO 2: Interpret phase change processes and P-v-T relationships, construct
property diagrams, and utilize equations of state to analyze and solve
problems involving pure substances in different thermodynamic states.
3. Perform Energy and Entropy Analysis of Thermodynamic Systems
o CLO 3: Conduct energy and entropy balance analyses for closed systems and
control volumes, evaluate the efficiency of power, refrigeration, and heat
pump cycles, and assess the impact of irreversibilities on system performance.

  CLO 4: Recall fundamental thermodynamic concepts such as specific volume,

pressure, temperature, and system boundaries, and explain their significance in the
analysis of thermodynamic systems.

 Interpret and Illustrate Thermodynamic Processes and Diagrams

 CLO 5: Interpret thermodynamic processes (e.g., phase changes, isentropic

processes) and illustrate them using property diagrams (P-v, T-s), showing the
relationships between pressure, volume, and temperature.

 Apply Thermodynamic Laws to Solve Basic Problems

 CLO 6: Apply the First Law of Thermodynamics to solve basic energy balance
problems in closed systems and utilize the Second Law of Thermodynamics to
determine the direction of processes and evaluate their reversibility.
