Drawing Isometric From Orthographic Projection

The document outlines a module on Engineering Drawing, focusing on the conversion of isometric views from orthographic projections. It describes the principles of orthographic views, including the arrangement of front, top, and side views, as well as the characteristics of projections based on surface orientation. Additionally, it includes a quiz to reinforce learning outcomes related to the subject matter.

Subject :ENGINEERING DRAWING
Subject Code: GPME1601
Faculty: Indu Pandey Module : Drawing isometric from orthographic
projection
Module Code: GPME160109
Learning Outcome
From this session students will be able to :

 Understand about the principles of orthographic views that

are considered in making the drawings
 Know about the orthographic view conversion from
isometric view
 Orthographic projection

i) It is comparatively easy to prepare a drawing from an actual object.

The object is carefully examined and then placed in a suitable position
for the front view. The front view of the object is selected in such a
way that the maximum details of the object are visible so that the
minimum dotted lines are required.
(ii) All the necessary views are then sketched freehand in a sketch book
or on a pad.
(iii) Measurements of all its details and overall sizes are taken and
inserted in the views, along with important notes and
instructions.
(iv) Finally, a scale-drawing is prepared from these sketches.
The following principles of orthographic views are considered in making
the above drawings:

1. In first angle projection; the Front view on the above and the Top view
at the bottom are always in line vertically.
2. The front view and the side view are always in line horizontally.
3. Each view gives two dimensions; usually the front view gives length
and height, top view gives length and width and side view gives height
and width.
4. When the surface is parallel to a plane its projection
on that plane will show its true shape and size.

5. When the surface is inclined its projection will be

foreshortened as shown.(Fig.)
