Teaching method :
Notes will be uploaded before lecture; students are required to bring your own copy.
Examples and solution will be discussed during lecture.
All lectures, Tests and Exam will be conducted physically (F2F).
Tutorial (if necessary) will be given and discussed after completion of each chapter.
3. Synopsis

This course covers basic principles and concepts of fluid mechanics which includes fluid
properties, fluid pressure and forces in static and moving fluids. Flow in pipes and fluid
machines as well as water reticulation systems are also discussed.

(Kursus ini meliputi prinsip dan konsep asas mekanik bendalir yang merangkumi ciri-ciri
bendalir, tekanan bendalir dan daya dalam bendalir statik dan bergerak. Aliran dalam paip
dan mesin bendalir serta sistem retikuilasi air turut dibincangkan).

1. describe fluid characteristics, thermodynamics properties of


water and basic fluid mechanics principles (A3)
2. analyse pressure and force in static and moving fluid as well as
flow in pipe and pipe network (WK, WP, C4)
3. evaluate pump and turbine performance as well as water
reticulation system design (WK, WP, C4)
