Slane College of Communications & Fine Arts

Laptop Requirement for 2020-2021

All Slane College of Communications and Fine Arts students are required to have a laptop computer
to complete the coursework. All of our students must have a laptop that meets the minimum technical
specifications noted below. Students who change majors into an area of study within the Slane College of
Communications and Fine Arts are held to the laptop requirements of their area of study.

All students are required to purchase a laptop with a solid-state drive (SSD). Solid-state drives are ultra-fast
and reliable hard drives. We recommend you purchase an external solid-state drive to store large content
and to back up your data.

These are MINIMUM requirements. You may purchase above these specs if you desire.

Microsoft is now offering their software free for educational purposes.

Adobe Creative Cloud

At some point in their studies, a majority of students will have to spend some time learning Adobe Creative
Cloud. Adobe Creative Cloud is a package of industry standard creativity tools used to create professional
grade audio, video, graphic design, and special effects projects.

All Majors and Minors in Interactive Media, Graphic Design, and Photography will use Adobe Creative Cloud
on a regular and ongoing basis for the entirety of their areas of study. Art majors, Sports Communication
majors, Music Entertainment Industry majors and others taking IM 113 are required to have the Adobe
Creative Cloud software as specific courses require it.
Please hold off purchasing Adobe Creative Cloud until the fall semester.

Other software purchases

Shop around for educational pricing on software. Often times there are significant discounts on educational
versions of software. Bradley University tech support endorses ThinkEDU.com for educational pricing.
With proper documentation, the expense incurred to purchase required technology may be added to a
student’s total cost of attendance. Contact the Bradley University Financial Assistance office for further
information at (309) 677-3089.

Individual courses for all majors may require additional software specific to the course.

For additional information on the laptop requirement, please contact our technical staff:
