ASSIGNMENT 2

AUTOMATION AND ROBOTICS

Subject Code: 21ME71 Date: 09.12.2024

1. Describe Asimov’s laws of robotics. (BTL2)

2. Draw a schematic diagram illustrating a robot's position within the Cartesian coordinate system. Label
and describe all the possible degrees of freedom (DOF) of the robot. (BTL2)
3. Write a note on robot accuracy and repeatability. (BTL2)
4. Briefly explain the different types of robots. (BTL2)
5. Briefly explain the various generations of robots. (BTL2)
6. Briefly explain the textual programming along with the advantages (BTL2)
7. Explain the requirements of robot programming. (BTL2)
8. Write a note on offline programming along with the central issues in OLP. (BTL2)
9. Explain interlock and sensor commands with relevant examples. (BTL2)
10. Write a note on various generations of robot. (BTL2)
11. Explain any one of the robots based automated manufacturing industry. (BTL2)
12. Write and describe most commonly used VAL II (Versatile assembly/algorithmic language) commands.
(BTL2)
13. Write a program in VAL II to command a PUMA robot to unload a cylindrical part of 10 mm diameter
from machine 1 positioned at point P1 and load the part on machine 2 positioned at P2. The speed of
robot motion is 40 in./s. However, because of safety precautions, the speed is reduced to 10 in./s while
moving to a machine for an unloading or loading operation. (BTL2)

Note:1. It is compulsory to write schematic diagram to explain the construction part of any topic.
2. Feel free to discuss for clarifications, if any.
