CHAPTER ONE
1.1 INTRODUCTION
The Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) is an accepted skills
programs which forms part of the approved academic standards in the degree
programs for Nigerian Polytechnics. In 1974, the Federal Government of Nigeria
introduced the national policy on Industrial Training, called the Students Industrial
Work Experience Scheme (SIWES). This program is under the umbrella of the
Ministry of Education through the Industrial Training Education / Experience in
their fields of study and other related professions.
This effort which was created in order to bridge the existing gap between the
theory taught in the classroom and practice of science, agriculture, medicine,
engineering, technology and other professional programs is aimed at exposing the
students to the use of various machines and Equipments, professional work
methods and ways of safeguarding the work areas in industries as well as elaborate
practical understanding to students with respect to their various disciplines. It is
also intended that the student through a process of relation to academics
knowledge and practical industrial application would understand the underlying
principles and become better focused and acquire the practical applications
towards excellence in his or her discipline.
The Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) involves the students,
the Institution and the Industries. This training is funded by the Federal
Government of Nigeria and jointly coordinated by Industrial Training Fund (ITF)
and the National Universities Commission (NUC).
OBJECTIVES
The programme of SIWES is designed to achieve the following objectives:
• To prepare students for the work situation they are likely to meet after
graduation.
CHAPTER TWO
2.1 DESCRIPTION OF ESTABLISMENT OF ATTACHMENT
Algorithm Ionic Tech goal is to educate/enhance youths on Information computer
Technology (ICT) and also givee them a career. They propose to give a complete
assistance to the tertiary education in Nigeria and also help individuals to know
more about office ethics.
CHAPTER THREE
3.1 ACTIVITIES PERFORMED DURING MY SIWES TRAINING
On my arrival to the firm, I was gladly introduced to virtually all members of the
firm and also told about different departments in the firm such as 2D/3D
Animation and Graphics
I gained experience mainly in 2D/3D animation and using graphics software to
design and perform other tasks.
Animation is the process of designing, drawing, making out layout and preparation
of photographic sequences which are integrated in the multimedia and gaming
products .Animation involves the exploitation and management of still images to
generate the illusion of movement. It was further broken into 2 Dimension (2D)
and 3 Dimension animation (3D). During the interim of my Student Work
Experience Scheme (SIWES), I was taught skills such as:
• Creativity and imagination
• Drawing skills
• Computer literacy
CHAPTER 4
4.1 EXPERIENCE GAINED
During my SIWES, I was able to gain the following in the form of experience:
• Time Management
• Activity Planning
• Organization Behaviour
CHAPTER FIVE
5.1 RECOMMENDATION
The problem i encountered was that we didn’t have enough processing power to
run some animation apps and some incessant errands by my boss.
5.4 CONCLUSION
The student industrial work experience scheme (SIWES) is an exposure that has
given me the practical knowledge of what has been taught in class. Also, I have
learnt to know the areas relevant to my course of study.
