TYPES OF COMPUTERS

1. DESKTOP COMPUTER:
It is a type of personal computer, designed and
manufactured to be installed in a fixed location, such as
a desk or table. The most typical configuration of a
desktop computer is: case, monitor, keyboard, mouse
and some peripherals such as a printer. Nowadays, all-
in-one computers are available that combine the
cabinet and the flat screen monitor, making them a
little more portable.
2. LAPTOPS:
It is a small mobile personal computer, typically
weighing between 1 and 3 kg. Laptops are capable of
performing most of the tasks that desktop computers
perform, with the advantage of being smaller, lighter,
and having the ability to operate unplugged for a
certain period.

2.1. LAPTOPS: are mobile computers that integrate a


screen, a keyboard, a pointing device or trackball,
the processor, the memory and the hard drive all
in one package with a battery.

2.2. NETBOOKS: They are ultra-portable computers,


even smaller than traditional laptops. They usually
have 10.1 screens inches, the

connection.

2.3. PDA: Its original name is Personal Digital

or PDA for its acronym in English. In Spanish
it is usually be called organizer
personal computer, pocket computer or

computers that use touchscreen technology.
For storage they often use flash memory
instead of a hard drive. They were designed
as an electronic diary with a calendar,
contact list, notepad, reminders and more.
These devices have been almost entirely
replaced by smartphones.
2.4. TABLET: It has a touch screen through which you
interact using basically your fingers, so there is no
need to have a physical keyboard or a mouse.

3. WORKSTATION: It has a more powerful processor,


more memory and all its improved capabilities for
performing a special type of work such as
engineering and science applications, 3D graphics or
game development and programming.

4. SERVER: It is a computer that has been optimized to


provide services to other computers, through a
network. Servers typically have powerful processors,
lots of memory, plenty of storage capacity, and even
multiple hard drives. These are devices that are
generally on 24 hours a day.
They can have various uses such as web servers,
email servers, enterprise application servers, etc.

5. SUPERCOMPUTER: Are he guy


of the most powerful and fastest computers that
exist at any given time. They are large in size, the
largest among their peers. They can process huge
amounts of information in a short time, being able to
execute millions of instructions per second, they are
designed for a specific task and have a very large
storage capacity. In addition, they are the most
expensive, having a cost that can exceed
$30 million.
6. COMPUTER WEARABLE or COMPUTERS
CORPORAL: In essence, they are devices with
common computer applications (e-mail, databases,
multimedia, calendars, etc.) integrated into watches,
cell phones, visors or clothing. The most talked about
lately is Google Glass. These are special glasses
developed by Google that show users information
available on smartphones without using their hands,
and they also have access to the Internet through voice
commands.
