(Maximum marks : 24)

 This section contains SIX (06) questions.


 Each question has FOUR options (A), (B), (C) and (D). ONLY ONE of these four options is the
correct answer.
 Four each question, choose the option corresponding to the correct answer.
 Answer to each question will be evaluated according to the following marking scheme:
Full Mark : +4 If ONLY the correct option is chosen;
Zero Marks : 0 If none of the options is chosen (i.e. the question is unanswered)
Negative Marks : 1 In all other cases.

1. One quarter sector is cut from a uniform disc of radius R. This sector has mass M. It is made to
rotate about a line perpendicular to its plane and passing through the center of the original disc.
Its moment of inertia about the axis of rotation is –

2. A rod of mass 'M' & length 'L' lying on a frictionless horizontal surface is initially given an angular

virtual numeric keypad in the place designed to enter the answer.
 Answer to each question will be evaluated according to the following marking scheme:
Full Mark : +3 If ONLY the correct integer is entered;
Zero Marks : 0 If the question is unanswered;
Negative Marks : 1 In all other cases.

7. A boy is pushing a ring of mass 2 kg and radius 0.5 m with a stick as shown in the figure.
The stick applies a force of 2 N on the ring and rolls it without slipping with an
acceleration of 0.3 m/s2. The coefficient of friction between the ground and the ring is
large enough that rolling always occurs and the coefficient of friction between the stick
and the ring is (P/10). The value of P is.

8. Four solid spheres each of diameter √ 5 cm and mass 0.5 kg are placed with their
centers at the corners of a square of side 4 cm. The momentum of inertia of the system
about the diagonal of the square is N × 10–4kg-m2, then N is.

9. A particle of mass 2 kg is moving with velocity of 2m/s on straight line y = 2x + 1. Its


angular momentum about origin is0.8K units , what is value of k.
10. Mass and radius of a circular disc is 9M & R respectively. Moment of inertia of the disc
about an axis passing through point O after removal of a disc of Radius R/3 as shown in
the figure is

11. A wheel rotating at same angular speed undergoes constant angular retardation. After
revolution angular velocity reduces to half its initial value. How many more revolution it will
make before stopping ?

12. Two wires are vibrating together to produce 10 beats/sec. Frequency of one wire is 200Hz.
When tension in this wire is increased beat frequency remains unchanged. Frequency (in Hz) of
other wire minus 206 Hz is equal to.

 This section contains SIX (06) questions.

 Each question has FOUR options (A), (B), (C) and (D). ONE OR MORE THAN ONE of these four
option(s) is (are) correct answer(s).

 For each question, choose the option(s) corresponding to (all) the correct answer(s).

 Answer to each question will be evaluated according to the following marking scheme:

Full Mark : +4 ONLY If (all) the correct option(s) is(are) chosen;

Partial Marks : +3 If all the four options are correct but ONLY three options are chosen;

Partial Marks : +2 If three or more options are correct but ONLY two options are chosen, both of
which are correct;

Partial Marks: +1 If two or more options are correct but ONLY one option is chosen and it is a
correct option;

Zero Marks : 0 If unanswered;

Negative Marks : 2 In all other cases.


13. A uniform disc of mass 2kg and radius 1m is mounted on an axle supported on fixed frictionless
bearings. A light chord is wrapped around the rim of the disc and mass of 1kg is tied to the free
end. If it is released from rest-
