GENERAL OBJECTIVE
To develop an Android application that enhances access to library resources and services,
improving user experience and engagement with the library.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
1. To enable users to search, browse, and access a wide range of library resources,
including books, journals, and digital materials, through a user-friendly interface.
2. To provide users with personalized recommendations and notifications based on their
interests, borrowing history, and library activities to enhance user engagement and
satisfaction.3. 3. Facilitate remote access to library resources, enabling users to borrow
materials, place holds, and manage their accounts from anywhere at any time.
SCOPE AND DELIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY
The study focuses solely on the development of an Android application and does not include other
platforms such as iOS or web-based interfaces.

Manual processes in libraries fail to deal with the current demands of requests for information and find it
difficult to comply with the amount of requests from users for books and other library services. Thus, this
study presents the used of RFID in library management system, as well as the broader accessibility
through the Android mobile application. It also offers handling and managing library routine processes
that are generally not available in other library management systems, in particular, the capability of
library consortium associated with different libraries to share resources. First, the framework of the

study between the front end and back end of the system was synthesized. Then different evaluators
were surveyed about the way the library management system functions. The system performance
attributes are defined using the functionality, usability, reliability, performance and security (FURPS)
model. The mean formula was used to analyze the data. The functionality, reliability, performance and
security were evaluated perfectly acceptable with a weighted mean of 4.73, 4.58, 4.66 and 4.63
respectively. Furthermore, the usability was given an acceptable evaluation rating with a weighted mean
of 4.50. The overall quality of the system was given a perfectly acceptable with a weighted mean of 4.62
thus proves that the used of RFID was successfully implemented in the library management system and
the web and mobile application was successfully developed in managing library resources and tasks.

Library automation provides a comprehensive way to lessen physical labor, reduce human error and
grant access to information materials anywhere and anytime. A mobile computerized system for
handling the activities and services of the library helps the library staffs to process the work more
accurately, and it saves time as well. This research work aimed to design and implement an Android
application for the library so that libraries can use to overcome the social and other challenges that
prevent them from providing services on the go. The Android application was designed and
implemented using the Android Studio which contains XML (extensible mark-up language) and Java. At
the back-end HTML (Hypertext mark-up language), CSS (Cascading Style Sheet), PHP (PHP Hypertext
pre-processor), and MySQL database were used. The system was tested after the development and
found it suitable for meeting all the requirements specified. The system can add to the integrity of the
library, ease the activities of the librarian and eliminate the stress related to the current process of
searching for library books and other study materials. Before the introduction of the Android OS, access
to the library documents was done only by the librarian. Android applications have become more
popular and it holds a maximum number of users when compared to all other platforms. The Android
application retrieves the information stored in the library database through the library server, for
example, checking whether the books are available in the library or borrowed without intervening
anyone. Users can suggest books for the library, and they are notified about their suggestion by the
librarian. This article brings a new idea of the users to access the library.

Libraries. Journal of Education Technology. https://doi.org/10.23887/jet.v6i1.43575
Increasing mobile device usage in the 21st century, coupled with the COVID-19 pandemic, continue to
change various sectors, including libraries. A library is a place to find information, both in-person and
online. Ideally, a library should develop and improve each year to ensure optimal service provision to its
users. The development of mobile phone applications is a trend that has revolutionized how consumers
access information in a variety of sectors, including libraries. This study aims to analyse the
development of mobile library applications (m-library apps) in digital libraries in Indonesia, using a
descriptive and qualitative methodology. Each m-library application’s existence was verified using the

attached link or the search feature on the Google Play Store. The results are described descriptively
with a focus on the analysis of applications used by m-libraries. The results indicate that Indonesia’s
digital libraries are currently showing progress, marked by libraries in Indonesia that have started using
m-library applications in their digital libraries. The most widely used applications by digital libraries in
Indonesia typically used third party vendors to develop their applications, such as Kubuku Resources,
PT, Enam Kubuku Indonesia, Gramedia Asri Media and Bina Pustaka. Our results also highlight a need
for continuous improvement in m-library applications, in terms of adding both internal (e.g., preservation
and security) and external (e.g., user training and promotional factors) features.
Digital technology has enabled the dissemination of all types of information, replacing traditional formats
with automated systems. As a result of the development of digital technology, the library has also
entered a new era, which is then called the digital library era. Digital library is considered as one
Form of modern library where the dependence will be on modern technology in the conversion of
information and data to digital formats to achieve greater effectiveness and effciency in storing and
processing information and then trans-mitting it. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to develop an
Android-Based Digital Library Application at the Department of Education Management, State
University of Surabaya. This study uses the research and development method proposed by Borg and
Gall by applying the nine stages. The results of this study indicate that the development of an Android-
Based Digital Library Application at the Education Management Department, State University of
Surabaya has been Successfully implemented with the results of the trial getting an average per-
centage above 80% which is included in the very feasible category to be imple- mented. Even so,
evaluation and monitoring must continue to be carried out to prevent errors or problems that may occur,
as well as material to continue devel- oping this Android-Based Digital Library Application.
