1. Understand yourself

Analyse your skill set. Bring out skills and impacts of every notable activity
you’ve done.
2. List and rank achievements

Make an exhaustive list of achievements, rank them by magnitude/relevance and group them section
wise
3. Arranging

Shortlisting is often done in a scan time of 10-20 seconds.

Create a good first impression:

● Place attention capturing items earlier

● Within a sentence, deliver impact in the first half

4. Polishing

The way you write

determines how
effectively your skills and
achievements are
conveyed to the reader.

Focus heavily on this

section.
Representation of information

FRAMEWORK - IMPACT word, What, How, Effect

5. Review

Getting the resume reviewed is necessary.

Seniors in the firm, friends, contacts in corporate, etc.

Be honest in the resume and be prepared with a few examples to validate

your claims.

Know your resume thoroughly; you should be able to speak at length about
any point in it.
Some tips

1. Customize resume by job profiles. Create multiple resumes for different

roles you are interested in.

2. Use proper nomenclature: Resume_nikhil_singh.pdf or Nikhil_singh.pdf

Avoid: New_Doc.pdf, <name>_DEShaw.pdf, Final_Software(2).pdf

3. Be accurate about the details on your resume (CGPA, rank, etc).

4. The fact that you don’t like your core branch cannot be the reason for
you to choose NON-CORE!

5. Build strong LinkedIn profile.
