1. Big data is a bunch of data within data, carrying a significant amount of data.

It is
important because it is detailed and can reveal important facts about the things around
us.
2. Open data is data subject to any viewer. It is data that is shared with everyone;
therefore, it is important because this informs viewers of certain facts and this can sway
their opinions and actions.
3. An example of big data could be medical records and an example of open data could be
a chart of leading causes of death in males in the us in 2019.
4. Open data could affect the way people live, for instance if an open data study chart
came out saying that more people who used ibuprofen than Tylenol had more heart
issues, doctors may recommend Tylenol.

6.

a. I made a pie chart.

b. With my excel skills I might communicate the most common female baby names of
2011. This might help with businesses that cater towards monogramming baby
clothing and accessories. A pie chart gives a visual of the common baby names, it
makes it very clear which ones are most popular.
c. Mean- 64.71

7. open data is basically data collected from the government and released by the
government. The nsa leak was a leak of phone data collected by the nsa that was
leaked. This was shocking to people that the government was tracking everything
related to the phone, this also goes to show how much data the government
actually collects and that open data is not even the half of it.

I learned from “They’re watching you” from the Atlantic that because around 98% of
our data is digitally stored, the value of data analyzing has gone up a ton. This data
can tell us almost anything and everything and things can be predicted such as the
economy. The world is advancing and an obscene amount of data is being collected
and then analyzed daily, this initially affects cooperates and businesses in the way
they function and the values they share.
