Conducting research in architecture & design: case study analysis


In this assignment you are required to conduct a case study analysis. The purpose of this assignment is to equip you with
the fundamental skills of research in the context of architecture and design. You are instructed to search and find a design
project of your interest & compile the following information into a presentation:

1. Project brief (name, date, location, architect/designer)


2. Project concept & inspiration
3. Project drawings (plan(s), section(s), & elevation(s))
4. Materials used in the project (material names with images)
5. Conclusion (what did you learn from your research?)

The presentation must include all the above information in addition to a cover page (course name, course code, student
name, student ID, instructor name & assignment name). You can use Canva to compile your presentation.

• Learn how to search for case study projects
• Identify different drawings used in architecture & design
• Learn how to compile information into a presentation
• To have the adequate knowledge of research & apply it in practice.

How to do the assignment

In class I will explain to you the assignment in detail. This assignment is designed to equip you with the necessary
skills in research used in design practice. This assignment will be executed during your own time. You will
individually compile your research into a PDF presentation.

Submission & presentation

You will individually submit your case study research on blackboard. Your presentation must include
all the assignment requirements. In addition, you are required to pay attention to plagiarism make sure
to thoroughly cite & check your work before you submit it.
