Iv-Day 23

The document outlines a daily lesson plan for Grade 7 Mathematics focusing on measures of central tendency, including objectives, content standards, learning resources, and procedures for teaching. It includes activities for students to practice calculating mean, median, and mode, as well as assessing their understanding through formative assessments. The plan emphasizes the importance of teamwork and practical applications of statistical concepts in real-life situations.

DAILY LESSON LOG OF M7SP – IVf-g-1 (Week One-Day One)

School Grade Level Grade 7

Teacher Learning Area Mathematics
Teaching Date and
Quarter Fourth
Time
Objectives must be met over the week and connected to the curriculum standards. To
meet the objectives, necessary procedures must be followed and if needed, additional
lessons, exercises and remedial activities may be done for developing content knowledge
I. OBJECTIVES and competencies. These are assessed using Formative Assessment Strategies. Valuing
objectives support the learning of content and competencies and enable children to find
significance and joy in learning the lessons. Weekly objectives shall be derived from the
curriculum guides.
A. Content The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts , uses and importance of
Standards statistics, data collection/ gathering and the different forms of data representation,
measures of central tendency, measures of variability, and probability.
B. Performance The learner is able to collect and organize data systematically and compute accurately
Standards measures of central tendency and variability and apply these appropriately in data analysis
and interpretation in different fields.
Learning Competency: calculates the measures of central tendency of ungrouped and
grouped data. – M7SP – IVf – g - 1
C. Learning
Competencies Learning Objectives:
/ Objectives 1. Identify the mean, median, and mode of ungrouped data;
2. Solve problems involving the three measures of central tendency; and
3. Demonstrate cooperation, speed and accuracy in doing the assigned task.
II. CONTENT Measures of Central Tendency of Ungrouped Data

These steps should be done across the week. Spread out the activities appropriately so that
pupils/students will learn well. Always be guided by demonstration of learning by the
pupils/ students which you can infer from formative assessment activities. Sustain learning
IV. PROCEDURES systematically by providing pupils/students with multiple ways to learn new things,
practice the learning, question their learning processes, and draw conclusions about what
they learned in relation to their life experiences and previous knowledge. Indicate the time
allotment for each step.
Review the previous lesson by letting the students answer the following Exercise:

A. Review A group of customer service surveys were sent out at random. The scores were 90, 50, 70,
previous 80, 70, 60, 20, 30, 80, 90, and 20.

GROUP ACTIVITY: (10 mins.)

There are three different basketball teams and each has played five games. You have each
team’s score from each of its games.

lesson 2. Instead of using mean scores, you use the median score of each team to make your
decision. Which team do you join?
3. Pretend you are the coach of the Lions and you were being interviewed about your
team for the local newspaper. Would it be better for you to report your mean score or
your median score?
Answer Key:
1.) Jaguars (The mean score is 77)
2.) Wolves (The median score is 80)
3.) The mean score (The mean score is 68.2 and the median score is 65.)
D. Discussing After 10 minutes, the teacher discusses with the students the process of arriving at the
new concepts answers in the Activity. Furthermore, he/she asks the students about the mathematical
and practicing skills or principles that they used to get the mean, median and mode.

Questions:
1.) By comparing modes, which person went to the movies the least per month?
2.) By comparing medians, which person went to the movies the most per month?
3.) Rank the friends in order of most movies seen to least movies seen by
comparing their means.
4.) Which month, by comparing the means of movies seen in each month, is the
most popular movie-watching month?
5.) By comparing medians, which month is the least popular month?
6.) What is the mean of the medians for each month (the arithmetic average of
the medians of the number of movies seen in each month)?

Answer Key:
1.) Mary (Her mode is 1)
2.) They all went the same amount (The medians are all 2)
3.) 1. John and Brian (Their mean is 2.4167),
2. Kelly (Her mean is 2.167),
