ABSTRACT

The intention of this topic is to show the effects of technological innovation at homes,
society, and on the nation. The purpose is to focus on the positive and the negative
impact. However, the case study of this write up is based on the effect of smartphones
in the society. At the end, without being biased the observation summarises the
impact it has on my family, the Local community and on the nation.

1.1. Introduction

Technology has reshaped the way of life and studies have delved into the heart of
American families and communities, exploring how innovations like smartphone
redefining the way we connect, communicate, and care for one another. It also
uncovered the dual-edged sword of technology, bringing people closer while also
surprising negative shifts in family dynamics, social bonds, and community ties.

2.0. HISTORY OF SMARTPHONE

Smartphones have been around since 1993, but they only became mainstream in the
last six years. The first smartphone, IBM's Simon, was released in 1993 and was
primarily marketed to corporate users. The early smartphones were expensive and
focused on enterprise features. The smartphone era can be divided into three phases:
first Phases (1993-2007). Enterprise-focused smartphones, led by BlackBerry,
introduced features like email, internet, and camera. Phase two (2007-2008): Apple's
iPhone and Google's Android OS revolutionized the market, targeting general
consumers with features like social media integration, audio/video, and internet
access. Third phase (2008-present): This phase focused on bridging the gap between
enterprise and consumer-centric smartphones, improving display quality, operating
systems, and user interfaces. Today, smartphones are ubiquitous, with major operating
systems like iOS, Android, and BlackBerry OS, and key vendors like Apple,
Samsung, and HTC, constantly innovating and improving features for both enterprise
and general consumers.

2.1. THE EFFECTS OF SMARTPHONE


These are the observations found as the effect of smartphones in my family, and in the
Local community.

Conclusion
However, I strongly invite policymakers, technologists, and individuals to join the
conversation, harnessing technology's power to build stronger, more compassionate
families and communities. Together, let us navigate the complex dance between
technology and human connection, forging a brighter future for all.
