Final Year Design Project and Thesis is a component delineated to research-based work, assuming
a credit of 6 credit hours over 2 semesters. In the first semester, its weightage is 3 credit hours.
This is a form of capstone learning experience where students are expected to be able to synthesize
the knowledge acquired in various subjects of their respective discipline, together with the
technical skills acquired from research methodology (quantitative and qualitative) and/or statistics
courses to independently run a research project in its entirety. The choice of research work or

design and execute a study within the chosen area of the discipline. It is encouraged for students
to embrace the final year project and thesis as a form of an ultimate assessment of their overall
four-year academic learning credibility. Executing an independent research project should be seen
as a rare opportunity to acquire an extra point in one's academic as well as personal credibility.
