SHOW

OVERVIEW

GET INTO
THE CHALKZONE
Rudy is a bit shy, so he has a very limited number of friends. In fact, his
schoolmate – the brainy Penny Sanchez – is practically the only other per-
son Rudy spends time with. In the Real World, anyway.

Rudy Tabootie is a 10-year-old boy who lives with his parents in a small
Midwestern suburb called Plainsville.

When he was eight, Rudy discovered a magic piece of chalk that allowed him to enter
an amazing world –"ChalkZone," a place where everything that has ever been drawn in
chalk, and then erased, reappears and remains forever. Ever since, he's been living a dual
existence, one in the Real World, the other in ChalkZone.

ENTERING CHALKZONE
Only Rudy wields the magic chalk. And to enter or leave ChalkZone, he must create a
portal that can only be drawn on a place where chalk is used. All chalkboards are
potential portals. So is a hopscotch grid, a sidewalk or street … even a wall where
someone has written or drawn something in chalk. But very importantly, a portal
needs to be erased after it’s been used, to preserve the secret nature of
ChalkZone. And it must be erased from the side it was drawn on. So, if
Rudy draws a portal on the classroom blackboard and goes
into ChalkZone, he’s got to reach back into the real world
to erase it.

RUDY’S BIO

RUDY IN THE REAL WORLD

In the Real World Rudy is a frustrated adventurer. He
longs to go to exciting places and do exciting things. His only
escape from his humdrum town and life is through art – and Rudy’s
a great artist. Not only does he draw great pictures, he also draws a
comic book that allows him to create adventures and stories for his charac-
ters – the kinds of adventures and stories he longs to be part of!

RUDY IN CHALKZONE
In ChalkZone Rudy is an adventurer. He finds adventure at every turn. He’s a
celebrity, the three-dimensional kid who can draw things in thin air! The magic chalk
empowers him and allows him to solve problems, to defeat monsters and escape dan-
ger. And with the help of his friends Penny and Snap – the hero character from Rudy’s
comic book come-to-life – Rudy rises to the challenges he meets in ChalkZone and
emerges victorious.

RUDY TABOOTIE – the show’s ten year old hero.

RUDY QUOTES:
∑ The chalk, Snap. Do you have the chalk!? ∑ That’s ultra gross!
∑ Just drawing on the blackboard, mom ∑ Not just chalk, Penny. Magic chalk.
.∑ So I’m the only real one here?
∑ I drew myself out of a tight spot with my magic chalk.
∑ I don’t want to gross you out, so you better not look.
∑ It’s what’s inside the head that matters. Not what’s on
top of it.
∑ The pencil, always fully charged, totally portable and
comes with its own delete button.

CHARACTER
BIOS
PENNY SANCHEZ - Rudy’s brainy school
classmate who shares the secret of ChalkZone with Rudy.
PENNY QUOTES:
∑ I thought that was a very interesting story, Rudy.
∑ Actually Rudy…
∑ Oh no, we ran out of time! ∑ This is unacceptable.
∑ This is a catastrophe ∑ That’s not very ecologically responsible!
.∑ And that’s what makes perpetual motion possible.

SNAP – the little blue superhero Rudy created and draws everywhere. Snap lives in
ChalkZone and has adventures with Rudy and Penny. He’s funny, smart, assertive and
quick-witted. All the things Real World Rudy isn’t.
SNAP QUOTES:
∑ Good idea Rudy. Bad idea Rudy. ∑ Great gumballs!
∑ I’m comin’ to save you! ∑ Think you could help me out here?
∑ Make like an egg and beat it. ∑ I’m all over it.
∑ Rudy, you’re just in time! ∑ Hey. You lookin’ for trouble?
∑ These crooks are no match for Snaplock Holmes, Master Defective.
∑ Don’t just stand there Rudy, draw somethin’!

Reggie Bulnerd – the school bully who takes advantage of Rudy’s lack of physi-
cal strength
Michelle Norwegiano – another of Rudy’s classmates who thinks Rudy
and his drawings are weird
Mr. Wilter - Rudy's teacher who thinks Rudy’s a slacker because he
often finds him daydreaming in class or drawing cartoons, which he
thinks are very low brow
Mildred & Joe Tabootie - Rudy’s preoccupied parents
who tend to be a bit oblivious to their son. Dad is a
butcher who longs for his son to learn the family
business. Mom is a dedicated vegetarian who
writes an advice column for the local
newspaper.
