Name of Business: EcoCafe

Goods or Services to be Sold: Coffee, Snacks, and Pastries

Main Customer: Students and people looking to relax while supporting sustainable
practices

When and why did we decide to start this business?

We decided to start EcoCafe because we wanted to make a real difference in our community
and the environment. We felt that people would be excited about the innovative, eco-
friendly ideas we had in mind, giving them a fun way to enjoy their coffee while also helping
the planet. It’s a gentle reminder for all of us to keep caring for our environment and
reducing waste, which ultimately benefits everyone.

How did we learn what potential customers wanted?

To understand what our customers were looking for, we put ourselves in their shoes. We
noticed that many people want to make a positive impact on the environment, even in small
ways, so we designed our business with that in mind. By offering products that reduce waste
while enhancing the coffee experience, we knew we could connect with our audience on a
meaningful level.

What strengths or assets did we use to start this business?

As coffee lovers ourselves, we really understand what makes a coffee shop inviting and
enjoyable. We believe in creating a warm atmosphere, encouraging positive interactions
among our team, and, of course, serving up high-quality products. This passion for coffee,
paired with our commitment to environmental protection, really helped to shape EcoCafe
from the ground up.

What problems did we face in setting up the business?

One of the biggest challenges we encountered was finding reliable suppliers for our plant-
based cups, cookie cups, and edible rice straws. It was essential for us to ensure that these
eco-friendly products were not only sustainable but also affordable without sacrificing
quality. Striking that balance between being environmentally responsible and cost-effective
was definitely a tricky hurdle during our setup.

Has our business's goods or services changed over time?

We’re excited about the future of EcoCafe and how it will evolve. While we’ll always focus on
serving amazing coffee, we’re eager to explore even more eco-friendly options as we grow.
Our goal is to come up with new ideas that keep our customers happy while also being
mindful of the environment. We’re also planning to introduce a pop-up store that customers
can rent for special occasions, providing a unique space for events like birthdays or
corporate gatherings, all while sticking to our sustainable practices.

What is the impact of our business on the natural environment and the community?

At EcoCafe, we’re all about making a positive impact on the environment. By using fun
options like edible rice straws, cookie cups, and plant-based cups, along with minimalist
packaging, we’re eliminating single-use plastics. These eco-friendly choices not only help our
customers reduce waste but also spark conversations about sustainability. Together, we can
think about responsible consumption and build a strong sense of community around these
important values.
