knowledge and you must be aware with the merits,demerits,application and
challenges of computer usage.

ii)Explain the merits,demerits,application and challenges of computer

usage in a digital world today.

i) Computer is an electronic device that takes in data ,process them according to the given
instructions,store them(data) and give out information that is useful to people(users).people in
todays digital world must have computer knowledge.because nowadays without computers the
works are difficult to be done.the technology of today have changed the way of living and doing
works.and computers have become important part,its like without computers works are really
hard because computers are so useful and simplifies work. I will justify the validity that says it is
important to have computer knowledge and must be aware with the
merits,demerits,applications,and challenges of computer usage by the following points;

It increase work performance,having computer knowledge can increase work

performance instead of writing or keeping information in files or other sources,informations
and data can be kept in a computer by typing or storing data or information.it can make work
easy as well.there are some applications like microsoftword helps in typing and storing the
information and keep them without getting lost.so you can record your information in a
computer.by computer knowledge you know the use and to organize the work by using those
programs and make it easy and useful so its important to know about computer usage so that it
can make it easy.

Computer safety.by having computer knowledge and knowing each and everything about
it .it helps to keep everything safe eg documents or information which stays safe in a computer
and also it can not go to any other person,a outside person can not get information which is
private and it helps in different ways so knowing merits,demerits,challenges,and application is
important for security and safety so that the informations or documents can stay safe.
 Its essential in any work place.having the knowledge about computer like merits
demerits, applications,and challenges of a computer is important because in today’s generation
in any organization /company requires a educated and a person who knows about computer
whether it is an organization/company.

Collaborating.its important to know about a computer because its helps in

collaborating .a person working in a certain company or organization has to know how to
collaborate with others or doing meetings with call conference without knowing how to use a
computer ,how will the person know to do collaboration with conference ,or communicating
with someone without having skills about a computer.

Having skills about disadvantages of a computer will also help to stay safe and
procedures on how to handle things .like health issues knowing that this is one of the demerit
will help in taking procedures.and also the places where to use these computers so it is
important to know about computer knowledge.

Therefore ,having computer knowledge is important because it helps in a lot ways and
also simplies work especially in this generation.you can perform any work without any
problems because you have the knowledge about computer the
merits,demerits,appliactions,and challenges knowing all this is really important and helpful

today.

Computer is an electronic device that take in data ,process them according to their given
instructions,store them,and give out information which is useful to people . computer has a lot
of merits ,demeris,applications,and challenges.the following are the merits of a computer

Multitasking,this is one among of the merits a computer where a computer can do a lot
of woprks at the same time.you can perform a lot of things with a computer at the same
time,eg installing applications but same time storing data where a lot of works can be perform
the same minute .a computer can do several works at the same time which is one of the merit.

Helps in entertainment. With a computer someone can be entertained can relax his/her
mind with it eg watching/downloading movies ,listening to music,playing games,where by it can
help a person in entertainment so computer does not just perform other works but also helps
 Can store a lot of amount of information.a computer has that type of capability where it
can store a lot of informations in a lots of ways by the amount of storage available.it also has a
huge amount of storage capacity where it can store allot of documents,a lot of
informations,and other things.

Speed.this is also one among of the merit of a computer.a computer has a high s[peed
where a lot of works can be performed in a minuteseg typing speed a person intead of writing
can use computer to type and store data in hoigh speed,its speed helps in spimplifying work in
few minutes also in other works computer does not take so much of time.

Productivity.you can do a lot of things with acomputer,you can create,organize,or

produce your work through it,you can produce your own documents through a computer,you
can alson design graphics,you can also make your own job easy.

A computer not just has merits but also demerits the following are the demerits of a
computer;

Virus and hacking attacks,in a computer when virus comes due to some programs it lead
to problem to the computer where even some informations or various documents disappear
due to virus and may lead to loss because important data may be removed and also hacking
someone might hack your computer to get all ypur data.

Negative impact on enviroinment.one of the demerit a computer has a lot of things

whivh can produce waster later on.there are some parts computer which can be useless
because it does not work and people throw those wastes in the environment,which leads ton
environmental problems ,cause some pats are toxic to environment.

You can become anti social or depressed .this is one of the demerit.a computer can lead
to anti social .anti social can be in si many ways then leads to problems.anti social can also be
done through social media like facebook,instagram which then leads to wastage of time and
brings problems.

Spread of inappropriate content.because nowadays in internet there are inappropriate

content like pornographic content which brings effect to children. This type of content breings
a lot of problems.

Health problems.one among of the diasdavantage of a computer is health issues.using

computer for a long time also brings out eye poroblems,it can also lead to headache,backbone
pain,computers brings problem to health and that is one among of the disadavantage of a
computer.

The following are the applications of a computer;

 Banking and financial company .this is where by mostly in banks without computers any
work can not be done .because computers in banks used for a lot things like money
transfer .banks provide a lot of things which requires computers.

Education.eg schools,universities requires computers and computers are found there for
learning and teaching students .and also online studying using computer so computer is
applicable in education.

Entertainment.computers are applicable in entertainments like in cinema theather,for

designs and other entertainment fields where computers are applicable and its important to
have a computer for that.

Hospitals.computers are applicable in hospitals for lots of things which requires computer
like surgeries,other researches keeping records and to operate other things .so also in hospital
fields computers are applicable.

Offices.computers are applicable in offices where they need it for storing some documents
keeping some informations which can simplify their work.so mostly in offices where it is a small
office but requires computers.

The following are the challenges of a computer.a computer usage also faces a lot of
challenges;

Lack of qualified teachers to teach computer in schools.the teachers who know and have
computer skills are really few and schools are many .so to teach computer is not possible in
every school because of lack of qualified teachers.

Lack of computers.this is also one of the challenge .computers are so expensive and to
afford that its really hard only few people can afford it.and also like in schools only few schools
can afford computers.

Lack of electricity.there are so many places where there is still problems of

electricity .without electricity like desktop computers can not used sp this is one of the
challenge ,and also in some schools as well where they lack electricity.

Therefore,there are so many merits ,demerits ,applications and challenges of a computer

but also computer is a device which helps for a lot of things and makes everything easy .and its
so beneficial for the people ,because of new technology computers are important.
