Calculate the generated emf (i) with the same flux and speed of 1000 rpm, (ii) with the flux per pole of 24 mWb and a speed of 900 rpm. (iii) with the increase in fiux by (10+X)% and decrease the flux by (5+X)%. 2. Derive the emf equation of a dc generator. What will be change in emf induced if flux is reduced by 20% and speed is increased by (10+X)%. 3. A 4-pole lap connected dc machine has an armature resistance of 0.XΩ. find the armature resistance of the machine when rewounded for wave connected. 4. A 4 pole dc generator has 51 slots and each contains 20 conductors. Flux per pole is X mWb and runs at 1500 rpm. Find the produced emf of the machine if its armature is (i) Lap wound (ii) Wave wound. 5. A (10+X) kW, 300V dc shunt generator has armature and field resistance of 0.05Ω and 100Ω respectively. In a 110V compound generator, the armature, shunt and series winding resistances are 0.06Ω, 100Ω and 0.04Ω respectively. The load consist of 200 lamps each rated (10+X)W, 110V connected in parallel. Find the total emf and armature current when the machine is connected for (i) long shunt (ii) short shunt. Assume voltage drop per brush is 1V. 9. A 6-pole Lap wound shunt motor has 500 conductors in the armature. The resistance of armature path is 0.0X Ω . The resistance of shunt field is 100 Ω. Find the speed of the motor when it takes 50A from the dc mains of 100V supply and also determine the torque developed by the motor at this speed. Flux per pole is 20 mWb. 10. A dc shunt generator delivers (20+X)kW at 250V and 400 rpm. The armature and field resistance are 0.02 Ω and 50 Ω respectively. Calculate the speed of the machine running as a shunt motor and taking 50kW input at 250V. Assume voltage drop per brush is 1V. 11.
