Lesson Solving Routine Problems

1 Involving Any Figure Using

Square Tiles
Let Us Learn!

After going through this module

you are expected to recall,
illustrate and solve routine problem
involving any figure using square
tiles.

In this module, you are expected to learn the following

 Recall the steps in solving word problem;

 Illustrate how to find the area of the circle; and
 Solve routine problems involving any figure using
square tiles. M2MEIVh-38

1
Let Us Try!

Direction: Examine the illustration and find the area of the

shaded figure. Number one is done for you to serve as an
example.
Panuto: Suriin ang ilustrasyon at hanapin ang area ng
bahaging may kulay. Sinagutan na ang unang bilang
upang magsilbing halimbawa.

A B C

D
E
Give the area of the following figures.
1. Figure B: Area = 6 square units
2. Figure A: Area = ________________ square units
3. Figure D: Area = ________________ square units
4. Figure C: Area = ________________ square units
5. Figure E: Area = ________________ square units
2
Let Us Study

To find the area of any shape, you need to count the

square tiles of the shape.
1 square tile = 1 square unit
Illustration of a kitchen floor.
W W W W W W W W W

L
L
L
L
L

Using a square tile lets us find out how many square

units will cover the entire kitchen floor.
Question: How many square units are there?
Answer: 45 square units.
You can use the formula in finding the area
Area = Length (long) x Width (wide), or A = L x W
The given data are L = 5, W= 9
A=5x9
A= 45 square units
Therefore, the area of the kitchen floor is 45 square
units. Thus father needs 45 square tile to cover the entire
kitchen floor.

3
Let Us Practice

Direction: Arrange the steps in solving word problem. Write

1-6 on the space provided. Number one is done for you to
serve as an example.
Panuto: Ayusin ang mga pamamaraan sa paglutas ng
suliranin. Isulatang ang bilang 1-6 sa patlang. Sinagutan
na ang unang bilang upang magsilbing halimbawa.
