2. Grammar: present continuous
We use the present continuous to talk about things we are doing now, or things that are
happening around now. To make the present continuous, use the verb to be and a verb +ing.
Affirmative Negative

1. Grammar: Simple present Vs. Present continuous
What have we learned so far? We use the simple present to talk about things we do regularly.
On the other hand, we can use the present continuous to talk about things we are doing now.
For the simple present, add s or es for he, she and it. For the negative, use don't for I, you, we
and they, and doesn't for he, she and it.
For the present continuous, use am, is or are and ing. For the negative, use not.
For present simple questions, use do for I, you, we and they and does for he, she and it. For
present continuous questions, change the order of am, is or are and the person.

A) Read the text. What can you do in the office? And, what can’t you do in the office?
At the office, there are many things you can do. For example, employees can work on computers all
day to complete tasks like answering emails or creating reports. If you have a meeting scheduled,
you can talk to your team about the project and share ideas.
If you need help, you can ask a colleague or supervisor for advice. Many companies allow employees
to take short breaks, so you can relax for a few minutes. Some offices have a coffee machine, and
you can make coffee whenever you want. However, there are some things you can’t do during work
hours. You can’t use social media. You can’t make long personal calls during work hours either,
because it might disturb others.
At some offices, you can work from home. But you can’t choose to work from home every day, only
when it is necessary. You can ask for extra hours, but you can’t stay too late without approval from
your boss. It’s important to follow the rules of the office, so everyone can work well together.
