Lesson Plan in Math5 Cot 3
TELA Used: Power point presentation of the discussion about congruent polygons
Video Clip about Congruent Polygons
Hyperlink during the activities of the lesson
3. Review
Guessing game- What am I?
a. I am 3-sided polygon with congruent sides.
b. I am a 4-side polygon with congruent sides.
c. I have 10 sides.
d. I am a four sided polygon with one pair of parallel side.
e. I have 8 sides.
f. I have 6 sides.
4.) Motivation
Look at our blackboards. Do they have the same size and shape? Look around
the room. What objects have the same size and shape? ( Learners’ literacy
skills will be enhanced through giving objects inside the room in MTB and in
English word).
B. Developmental Activities
1. Presentation
Materials: cut outs of polygons, ruler, protractor
Mechanics:
a. Group the pupils into 3’s.
b. Distribute envelopes with cut outs of polygons.
c. Let the pupils trace the polygons inside the envelope and cut it with scissors.
Let them measure the sides and the angles. Let them paste the polygons in pair
in the board.
d. Ask the pupils: What polygons have you traced and cut? What can you say
about the size, shape and angles?
e. Each group will choose a leader to report their output. Emphasize to them the
use of rubric in scoring their performance.
(Engaging learners, individually or in groups, in meaningful exploration and hands-on
activity within a range of physical learning environments.)
2. Discussion:
*Teacher explains about congruent polygons based on the activity of the
learners.
What are the names of the polygons that are congruent?
What are their measurement?
What do you call the polygons that have the same size and shape?
* Have them watch a video clip about congruent polygons. (Integration
of ICT using VIDEO CLIP)
(Using differentiated instruction in addressing the needs, interests and strengths of the learners.
Learners are most likely interested in learning through watching a video clip aside from real
objects, group activities.)
3. Fixing Skills:
Board Work: Mix and Match
Mix and match the following polygons pasted on the board. Which pairs of
polygons appear to be congruent? Name the pairs.
1.) 4.)
2.) 5.)
3.)
4. Generalization:
When do you say that polygons are congruent? How will you know if polygons
are congruent? When is congruency of materials important? Cite a situation
(Developing critical and creative thinking, as well as other higher order thinking skills.)
5. Application:
1. Look at the things inside the classroom and identify the congruent sides or
faces.
a. books d. tables
b. chalkboard e. walls
c. cabinets
2. Find pair of figure in your classroom that shows congruency.
