I start my day at 6:30 a.m. by doing Pilates and having a light breakfast. In
the morning, I focus on studying my favorite languages, such as English and
French. At noon, I have lunch with my friends and relax for about 30
minutes. Afternoons are spent assisting my mom with numbers and
accounting tasks. In the evening, I cook dinner for my family, clean the
house, review what I learned in the morning, and then go to bed. My favorite
time of the day is the evening because I enjoy cooking for my loved ones
and talking with them about the day. I really like this time as it allows me to
do what I love and spend quality time with my family.
One of the most special occasions for me is Tet, the Vietnamese Lunar New
Year. It usually takes place from the 27th of December to the 5th of January
in the lunar calendar. During this time, I often go shopping for Tet with my
mom, buy peach blossoms, and help decorate and clean the house. On New
Year’s Eve, my family gathers for a big year-end meal. We visit relatives to
give New Year wishes, receive lucky money, and go to the pagoda to pray
for good fortune. I really enjoy Tet because it brings everyone together after
a long year of working far from home. It also preserves Vietnamese
traditions and welcomes a new year full of success and happiness.

One of my favorite dishes is stuffed bitter melon (canh mướp đắng nhồi thịt).
To prepare it, first cut the bitter melon into slices and remove the seeds.
Then, mix minced pork with black pepper, a little fish sauce, and shiitake
mushrooms for added fragrance. Stuff this flavorful mixture into the
hollowed-out melon. Next, simmer the stuffed melon in a pot of water,
seasoning with salt and a pinch of sugar, until everything is tender and
cooked through. The bitterness of the melon blends wonderfully with the
savory stuffing, creating a delicious and aromatic dish. It’s both healthy and
comforting, reminding me of home.
