The Impact of Parental Involvement
on the Academic Performances of the
Grade 10 Students in Central Pangasinan Adventist School Background of the Study Many researchers recognize the important role that strong positive bond between homes and schools, play in the development and education of children (Edwards & Alldred, 2000; Henderson & Berla, 1994; Richardson, 2009; Sanders & Sheldon, 2009; Sheldon, 2009). Research has also shown that successful students’ have strong academic support from their involved parents (Sheldon, 2009). Furthermore, research on effective schools, those where students are learning and achieving, has consistently shown that these schools despite often working in low social and economic neighborhoods, have strong and positive school-home relationships (Sanders & Sheldon, 2009; Sheldon, 2009). When it comes to academic performance, parents' motivation can have a variety of effects on their children, including learning at home, talking about goals and accomplishments in school, and participating in extracurricular activities. Motivation for this study is based on the fact that some students are exceptionally good in their work, while some extremely bad. Such as when some variations in scores are traced it is more often discovered that family background is a major contributory factor. This study emphasizes the importance and seeks to explore the impact of parental motivation to the performance of students in school. It also looks to the various motivational strategies used by parents. It is clear that the child will be motivated and driven to excel academically. Parental motivation is a powerful force in a student's life, affecting not only immediate outcomes such as academic performance but also long-term emotional and social development. This research aims to answer the question: How influence does parental motivation on student’s academic performances in school? Research Problem The impact of parental engagement on student’s performance is a concern of outcomes performance of the students. The impact of parents' strategies for motivation on grade 10 students’ academic performance and achievement across the entire learning system is the specific topic of this study. The most important aspects of student’s success are highlighted as being parental involvement, support, and encouragement. The exact effect that parents motivate has on their children' academic success. The results of this research problem aim to investigate on how parental encouragement and support affects their children's academic performance. The problem here is: Do Grade 10 students who get parental motivation through actions by having their parents monitor their academic progress or provide resources perform better in school than those who do not receive a parental motivation or receive such pressure? Statement of the Problem This study examines the Impact of Parents motivation on academic performances of Junior High School Students at Central Pangasinan Adventist School. The academic success of children is significantly influenced by their parents. Academic progress for students can be affected by several kinds of factors, one of that is the encouragement programs in which parents engage. But parents can motivate their kids in many ways. While some may establish high standards or discuss the value of education, others may offer assistance with schoolwork. Students also participate in extracurricular activities such as clubs, music, and athletics. These kinds of activities help students to explore their interests and develop social skills. Parents' high expectations might cause children to experience anxiety and stress because they feel pressured to perform perfectly in both their extracurricular and academic activities. It can be difficult and even frustrating to balance school with these extracurriculars. In particular, the topic is how parental motivation impact the student’s performance on their academic achievements and participating in extracurricular.
This study will investigate the several ways that parents
contribute in their children's education, give them emotional support, and stimulate their development. It will also seek to identify any negative effects of parental motivation, such increased stress or pressure on students. The study will also investigate on how parental motivation affects students' learning outcomes, time management abilities, specifically when it comes to the challenge of balancing extracurricular activities and academic responsibilities at school.
