Antenna Parameters Problems

The document calculates the efficiency and directivity of an antenna with a radiation resistance of 65Ω and loss resistance of 8.75Ω. The antenna efficiency is determined to be 88%, and the directivity is calculated to be approximately 28.53. The power gain of the antenna is given as 18dB, which is converted to a linear scale for the calculations.

Antenna Parameters

Problem 1
An antenna has a radiation resistance of 65Ω and loss resistance of 8.75 Ω and
a power gain of 18dB. Determine antenna efficiency and its directivity.
Ans
Given,
Radiation resistance Rr=65Ω
Loss resistance RL = 8.75 Ω
Now,
Antenna Radiation Efficiency
𝑅𝑟 65
𝑒𝑐𝑑 = = = 𝟎. 𝟖𝟖 =88%
𝑅𝑟 +𝑅𝐿 65+8.75

Given
Power gain Gp=18dB =20log1018= 25.11
We know
G=ecd D, where D=Directivity
So
𝐺 25.11
𝐷= = = 𝟐𝟖. 𝟓𝟑
𝑒𝑐𝑑 0.88
