1) Explain why (17x 11 x 2 + 17 x 11 x 5 ) is a composite number?


2)The LCM of two numbers is 14 times their HCF. The sum of LCM and HCF is

9) Find the zeroes of the quadratic polynomial X2 - 2X - 8 and verify the


relationship between the zeroes and the coefficients.

10) Find a quadratic polynomial whose sum and product of the zeroes are √2
and 1/3 respectively.

11) Frame a quadratic polynomial with - 2 and - 5 as its zeroes.

12) If α and β are the zeroes of a quadratic polynomial x2 – x – 2 then find the
value of (1/α - 1/β).

13) Draw graphs of x + 2y = 5 and 2x - 3y = - 4.

14) Draw graphs of x - y + 1 = 0 and 3x + 2y = 12. Determine the vertices


of the triangle formed by these lines and x- axis. Also shade the triangular
region formed.

15) For what values of p will the system of linear equations represent two
parallel lines? -x + py = 1 and px – y = 1.
16) If the system of equations 6x + 2y = 3 and kx + y = 2 has a unique
solution, find k

18) Find the roots of the quadratic equation by factorization method

i) 2x2-5x +3 = 0 ii) 3x2 - 2√6 x + 2 = 0

19) Find the discriminant of the quadratic equation 3x2 - 2x + 3 = 0 and hence
find the nature of the roots

20) The hypotenuse of a right triangle is 1 m less than twice the shortest side.
If the third side is 1 m more than the shortest side, find the sides of the triangle.

21) Find the values of k for which 2x2 + kx + 3 = 0 has equal roots

22) Find the values of k for which kx( x – 2 ) + 6 = 0 has equal roots.

23) If the distance between the points (4, k) and (1, 0) is 5, then what can be the

and CA at points D, E and F respectively. If the lengths of sides AB, BC and CA are
12 cm, 8 cm and 10 cm respectively, find the lengths of AD, BE and CF.
