a) Archimedes principle states that “when a body is totally or partially immersed in a
fluid it experiences an upthrust which is equal to the weight of the fluid displaced”. 2
marks.
b) 3 conditions necessary for a body to float @1 mark
i) The up thrust due to water must be equal to the total weight of the object.
ii) The average density of the object must be less than the density of the surrounding
fluid.
iii) The volume of the submerged part must be large enough to displace large amount
of water/fluid.

Upthrust=2N.
