Homework 7
Homework 7
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this tutorial, students should be able to
1. Layout a given part model by selecting the number and type of views to
effectively describe the given 3D part model.
2. Move views, break alignment of views and realign views.
3. Create the following views: base, projected, section, auxiliary, cropped, aligned,
broken-out and detail views.
4. Add dimensions and annotations to given views by applying drawing practices
for dimensioning in accordance with ISO recommendations.
5. Use auxiliary view to show true shape of inclined and oblique surfaces.
6. Use auxiliary view to determine the true angle between surfaces
7. Dimensions the views using the model sketch dimensions.
Tasks:
1. Study the given part model and detail the model with complete dimensioning
and annotation in either 1st or 3rd Angle Projection.
Note:
• Refer to lecture notes on the do and don’t in dimensioning.
Q1. Study the given view of a plate of 5 mm thick as shown in Figure 1a below. A
throughout hole of 16 mm in diameter is drilled on the plate.
(a) Indicate by brief notes the poor dimensioning practices shown.
(b) Dimension Figure 1b by applying dimension practices in accordance with
ISO recommendation.

Q2. Study the given views of a machined blocks as shown in Figure 2a below.
(a) Indicate by brief notes the poor dimensioning practices shown.
(b) Dimension Figure 2b by applying dimension practices in accordance with
ISO recommendation.

Q3a. Download from NTULearn the part model created by Autodesk Inventor, and
open it in SolidWorks. Make a detailed drawing of the Connector on an A3 size
paper to a scale of 1:1 in the 3rd Angle Projection. Dimension and annotate the
drawing to be as shown Figure 3.
