Good morning everyone…today we will discuss
about the topic” Solar and Wind energy”
I WOULD REQUEST EVERYBODY TO BE MUTED AND
ANSWER WHEN ASKED.
BEFORE WE START I WOULD LIKE U TO WATCH THIS
CLIP
ALAN CLIP
Aryan
So u al may be thinking…. What is Energy? Energy is
"the ability to do work". Energy is how
things change and move. It's everywhere around us
and takes all sorts of forms. It takes energy to cook
food, to drive to school, and to jump in the air. We
tried our best in such situations so please do not
interrupt us. And I request u all to turn off ur mics
So today we will cover 2 topics today…Solar
energy and Wind energy
Now I would like to call Alan to talk about
Solar Energy.
Alan
Thank you Aryan, So what is solar energy? Do u
know
Solar power is the most
abundant energy source on Earth. ...
Solar panel costs have fallen 99% since
1977. ...
Solar Energy is cheaper than fossil fuels. ...
Solar power plants can last 40 years or more. .
Ok so let me talk about this interesting topic…
Solar energy is the transformation of heat,
the energy that comes from the sun. It has
been used for thousands of years in many
different ways by people all over the world. The
oldest uses of solar energy is
for heating, cooking, and drying. Today, it is
also used to make electricity where
other power supplies are not there, such as in
places far away from where people live, and
in outer space.
Dakshesh
Thank you Alan, Alan explained us so
magnificently…As u all know…Nothing in the
world is perfect so we would like to tell the
advantage and disadvantages of solar energy
• It provides us heat for making hot water,
heating buildings and cooking
• To generate electricity with solar
cells or heat engines
• To take the salt away from sea water.
• To use sun rays for drying clothes and
towels.
• It is used by plants for the process of
photosynthesis.
• To use cooking (solar cookers)
I would like to invite Aditya
for the disadvantages…
Aditya
Thank you Dakshesh. Lets talk about the
disadvantages
The disadvantages are-
• Cost. The initial cost of purchasing a solar system
is fairly high. ...
• Weather Dependent. Although solar energy can
still be collected during cloudy and rainy days, the
efficiency of the solar system drops. ...
• Solar Energy Storage Is Expensive. ...
• Uses a Lot of Space. ...
Aryan
Thank you Justin…So to put the cherry on
the cake I would like to summarize this
topic
*Solar energy is the energy given by the
rays of the sun.
*Because the Sun always gives heat, solar
energy can be considered a renewable
energy and an alternative to non-
renewable resources like coal and oil.
*Plants require solar energy for
photosynthesis
*Acquiring solar energy and
converting it into electrical energy for
daily use is still pricy
• Solar energy has many uses such as to
dry water and take the salt away from
sea water.
• Thank you and for the 2nd topic I would like
to invite Justin again.
Justin
Thank you Aryan ,So now let’s talk about wind
energy…PLS WATCH THIS CLIP FIRST
ALAN CLIP
Wind power or wind energy is the use of wind to
provide the mechanical power through wind
turbines to turn electric generators and
traditionally to do other work, like milling or
pumping. Wind power is
a sustainable and renewable energy, and has a
much smaller impact on the
environment compared to burning fossil fuels. And
in simple words it is the energy derived from the
wind.
I would like Dakshesh to talk about the advantages
of wind energy.
Dakshesh
Thank you Dakshesh.
The goodness of wind energy are-
Wind Energy is friendly to the surrounding
environment, as no fossil fuel is burnt to
generate electricity from wind energy.
Wind turbines take up less space than the
average power station.
Newer technologies are making the attraction
of wind energy much more efficient
The Wind Energy is free, and we are able to
cash in on this free source of energy.
Wind turbines are a great resource to
generate energy in remote locations, such as
mountain communities and remote
countryside.
It is a Renewable Resource of Energy.
I would like our Alan to tell us the
disadvantages of wind energy
Alan
Thank you Dakshesh
So the disadvantages of wind energy are
. The Wind Fluctuates. Wind energy has a
similar drawback to solar energy in that it is
not constant.
This energy produces less energy than the
average fossil fuel energywhich means
multiple turbines are needed to make an
impact
Aryan
Thanks Alan
Now can you all tell me any more
disadvantages????
Ok that was great
Now let’s invite Aditya to tell the uses
Aditya
Thank you, Aryan
Now let’s focus on the uses
1 – To Generate Wind Power
One of the most popular uses of wind energy
is to generate electricity. During this process, a
wind turbine harnesses the energy of the
wind. As the wind starts to move the blades of
the turbine, a generator starts to turn which
then produces electricity.
2 – In Transportation
Another use of wind energy is in
transportation. Civilizations have for many
thousands of years made use of wind energy
for sailing. Researchers believe that sailing has
been in existence in some form since as far
back as 5000 BC. In more recent times, we
have seen both small and large ships capable
of sailing under the power of the wind.
I would invite Aryan for the final use.
Aryan
Thanks Aditya!
3 – For Pumping Water
You may not be aware that wind energy can
also be used for pumping water through the
use of a wind pump. Wind pumps have a
similar look to a traditional windmill but
instead of milling grain, they can pump water.
Thank you and I hope u heard them
properly!!!
Now I would invite Justin to wrap up this topic.
