WordPad
WordPad is a place where we can not only written a text but also input & make some colorful
object in the text. And we can also directly drawing a picture by Paint Application via WordPad.
The extension code of WordPad is .rtf (Rich Text Format).

Difference between WordPad & Notepad

WordPad Notepad
The extension code of WordPad is .rtf The extension code of Notepad is .txt
We cannot write HTML code in WordPad We can write HTML code in Notepad

How to Open Microsoft WordPad


Process – 1
1. Click on Start Button
2. Click on All Programs.
3. Click on Accessories.
4. Click on Microsoft WordPad.

3. Write WordPad on search Box.
4. Click on Ok Button or press Enter Button.

1. Click on Start Button
2. Click on WordPad Option on recent places of start Button window.

1. Click on Start Button
2. Write “Run” on search panel of the Start Button & press Enter Button
3. Write “cmd” on search Box.
4. Click on Ok Button or press Enter Button.
5. Write “Start (space) WordPad & press Enter Button

File Menu:
How to create a new file?
Click “File” button---- click “New”---click “Blank document”---- click “Create” button.

How to open a new file?


Click “File” button ---- click “Open” ---- select the file which you want to open---- click on “Open”
button.

How to save the file?


Click “File” button ----- click “Save”----write a file name (1 – 255 Character) --- then click “Save”
button.

How to save the same file with a new name?


Click “File” button --- click “Save as” ---- write a file name (1 – 255 Character) --- then click Save”

How we see the print preview of the page?
Click “File” button --- click print----Then we see the print preview in at right side

How we print the page?


Click “File” button --- click print ----Select Printer----Then select how many copies to print----Then

How to Select a Document


 Click the first position of the document, then drag the mouse to the last position of the
document
 Triple click in the first position of the document.
 Click the first position of the document, then press the shift button & click the last position of
the document.
 Press Ctrl+A for select all the document.

HOME Tab:-

Font Menu

1. Font Style —To change the font style of selected text, Select the
document, ---- then click font style button, ----- select any font style,
------ click the font. Shortcut (Ctrl+Shift+F), Default font style “Calibri (Body)”.

2. Font Size --- To change the font size of selected text, Select the document, ----
then click font Size button,-----then select any font size, ---then click the size.
Shortcut (Ctrl+Shift+P), Default font size is 11.

3. Grow Font --- To increase the font size of selected text, Select the document
---then click grow font button, Shortcut (Ctrl+>)

4. Shrink Font --- To decrease the font size of selected text, Select the document,
---then click Shrink font button, Shortcut (Ctrl+<)

5. B(Bold) ---- To put bold(increase the thickness) effects on the selected text, Select
the document, --- Then click “Bold” button, Shortcut (Ctrl+B)

6. I (Italic) --- To put Italic effects on the selected text, Select the document, then
click Italic button, Shortcut (Ctrl+I)

7. U(Underline) ---- To put underline effects on the selected text, Select the
document, ---then click Underline button, Shortcut (Ctrl+U)

8. abc (Strikethrough) ---- To put strikethrough effects on the selected text,


Select the document, ---then click strikethrough button.

9. X2(Subscript) ----To put subscript effects on the selected text, Select the
document, --- then click Subscript button. Shortcut (Ctrl+=)

10. X2(Superscript) ---- To put superscript effects on the selected text, Select the
document, --- then click Superscript button. Shortcut (Ctrl+Shift + +)

11. Highlight Colour --- To highlight any selected text with colour. Select the
document, --- then click Text highlight colour button --- then select & click the
colour.

12. Font Colour---- To change the font colour of selected text, Select the document, --- and
then click Font colour button--- then select & click the colour.

Paragraph Menu
13. Decrease Indent ---To decrease the space between two paragraphs, Select the
paragraphs, ---then click decrease indent button ,Shortcut (Alt +H+AO)

14. Increase Indent ---To increase the space between two paragraphs, Select the
paragraphs,--- then click decrease indent button, Shortcut (Alt +H+AI)

15. Bullets & Numbering ---- To input the bullets in the text, Select the
document, --- then click Bullets button, --- then select the bullet or number style.

16. Line Spacing --- To increase & decrease the space between the lines, Select the
text or paragraph, --- click line spacing button --- Select the range.

17. Alignment ---- Alignment is 4 types

Left alignment Centre alignment

Right alignment Justify alignment

To change the alignment of the text Select the text or paragraph, then click alignment button

To set the paragraph indentation, Tabs & Line Spacing from this tools. Select the paragraph
--- Click on Show Paragraph Button --- Set the paragraph indentation, Tabs & Line Spacing
--- Click on Ok Button.

Insert Menu
19. Picture --- Insert the picture on the document----- click picture---- select a picture---
click insert.

20. Paint Drawing --- By this tools we can directly going to paint application &
draw any kind of picture & insert the picture in the WordPad document. Click on Paint
Drawing menu---open the paint document---draw any picture--- click on save button.

21. Date & Time ---- Insert Date & time in the document. ----- click date & time----
select the date--- click ok---- again click date & time ---- select the time –click ok.

22. Insert Object ---- Insert Object in the document. ----- Click Insert Object----
select the Object--- click ok.

23. Find ----- To find any word or letter in the document, Click find button, --- write
the word or letter which you want to find, --- click Find next button .Shortcut key –
Ctrl+F

24. Replace----- To replace any word or letter in the document. Click Replace
button,
---Write the word or letter which you want to replace, --- write the replaced word or letter, --- click
Replace or Replace all button.
Editing Menu
25. Find----- To find any word or letter in the document, Click find button, --- write
the word or letter which you want to find, --- click Find next button .Shortcut key –
Ctrl+F

26. Replace----- To replace any word or letter in the document. Click Replace
button,
---Write the word or letter which you want to replace, --- write the replaced word or letter, --- click
Replace or Replace all button.
Clipboard Menu
27. Cut --- To cut any selected document or text. Select the document,--- then click
cut button . Shortcut key –Ctrl+X

28. Copy--- To copy any selected document or text. Select the document, --- then
click copy button. Shortcut key –Ctrl+C

29. Paste---To paste any cutted or copied any document, place the cursor where you put the
text, click paste button. Shortcut key –Ctrl+V

The clipboard is a place or memory where the cutted or copied document is stored & when
we paste the item, the item will be come out from the clipboard.

VIEW Tab:-

Zoom Menu
1. Zoom In:-
Click Zoom in Button for display the document in larger view.
Click View Tab ---- Click Zoom in Button.

2. Zoom Out:-
Click Zoom out Button for display the document in smaller view.
Click View Tab ---- Click Zoom out Button.

3. 100% :-
Zoom the document to 100% of the normal size. Click View Tab ---- Click 100%
Button.

4. Ruler : -
View the rulers, used to measure and line up object in the document.
To view the ruler in the document-------- Click View Tab ---- Check the Ruler
Box.
To hide the ruler from the document-------- Click View Tab ---- Uncheck the
Ruler Box.

5. Status Bar : -
View the status bar
To view the status bar in the document-------- Click View Tab ---- Check the
status bar.
To hide the status bar from the document-------- Click View Tab ---- Uncheck
the status bar.

6. Word Wrap : -
Set the text length with the size of window or ruler
To Set the Word Wrap in the document-------- Click View Tab ---- Click
Word Wrap-Set the text with window or ruler range
