crime in the City of Los Angeles (California, USA) dating back to the year 2020 to 2023. This
data is transcribed from original crime reports that are typed on paper and therefore apart from
some inaccuracies within the data, the data needs to be cleaned.
Per observation, the dataset has 955339 number of documents recorded being the primary key
and consist of attributes such as date and time reported, date of occurrence, time occurred, area
name, reported district name, crime code, crime code description, victims age and sex, premises
description, weapon used, weapon description, status description and the latitude and longitude
of location. Most fields within the dataset are missing data as iterated above, and this includes
weapon used and description to commit the crime, crime code1-4 and the cross state. The date
and time reported field needs to be formatted well and must follow chronologically with the
right datatype as well as the date crime occurred.
According to Mayor of the city of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, she says “violent crime is down,
and Los Angeles has seen a 15 percent decrease in homicides compared to last year”. She then
outlines measures to combat these crimes
