It's A Party

You are tasked with creating a budget for a meal on a special

occasion of your choice. Be creative. You may choose a holiday,
a birthday, Super Bowl Sunday, Movie Night, etc. Since your
guests will be hungry you need to plan for three dishes. You need
one entrée, one side dish, and one dessert. You will need to use a
recipe from a site such as Food Network for each dish. Follow the
directions in order.

FIND RECIPES

Go to www.foodnetwork.com or www.epicurious.com to locate

your recipes. If you have an idea of what you would like to find
enter a keyword in the search box. If you are unsure of a recipe,
you may search the given categories…Healthy Eating, Quick and
Easy, or Holidays and Parties. Your recipes must have at
least 5 ingredients. Add the link to your recipes at the bottom
of the page.

CREATE SPREADSHEET

 In Row 1, Columns A-E Merge and Center an original title.

 In Row 2, Columns A-E, Merge and Center your full name.
 In Row 3, Key the following column headings…“Grocery
Items”, “Size”, “Quantity”, “Price”, “Total”.
 In Column A list the ingredients individually for each recipe.
You will want to color code your text so you can easily identify
where one recipe begins and ends.

“SHOPPING”

 Go to any grocery store app to find the items needed for your
recipes.
 Find the size (how the product is sold) and price. You will
determine the quantity.
 If you use the same item in more than one recipe you only
need to purchase it once if there is enough for both recipes.
 Complete all shopping before moving onto the formulas.

FORMULAS

 In E4 create a formula that calculates the quantity * the

price.
 Select cell E4. Click on the circle located in the bottom right-
hand corner of the cell. Drag it down to the end of your
grocery list. Note: The cell references are relative so that
when you look at other rows the formulas are automatically
updated.
 Format all prices to currency. Highlight numbers in price and
total columns. Right-click.
 Calculating the cost of each dish. Leave a blank row at the
bottom of your spreadsheet. In A Column list the names of
your three dishes. In the B Column write a formula that adds
the ingredients for each dish.

CREATIE A PIE CHART

 Highlight the three dishes and the three totals.

 Insert Chart then change chart type to 3D Pie chart.
 Move Chart to New Sheet.
 Change the Chart Title to “Your Party’s Name”.
 Change the colors of each of the pie pieces.
