Programs using the following system calls of UNIX operating system fork,
Ex.No:2
exec, getpid, exit, wait, close, stat, opendir, readdir
AIM:
To write C Programs using the following system calls of UNIX operating system fork, exec,
getpid, exit, wait, close, stat, opendir, readdir.
ALGORITHM:
PROGRAM:
#include<stdio.h>
#include<dirent.h>
struct dirent *dptr;
int main(int argc, char *argv[])
{
char buff[100];
DIR *dirp;
printf(“\n\n ENTER DIRECTORY NAME”);
scanf(“%s”, buff);
if((dirp=opendir(buff))==NULL)
{
printf(“The given directory does not exist”);
exit(1);
}
while(dptr=readdir(dirp))
{
printf(“%s\n”,dptr->d_name);
}
closedir(dirp);
}

OUTPUT:
ALGORITHM:
STEP 1: Start the program.
STEP 2: Declare the variables pid,pid1,pid2.
STEP 3: Call fork() system call to create process.
STEP 4: If pid==-1, exit.
STEP 5: Ifpid!=-1 , get the process id using getpid().
STEP 6: Print the process id.
STEP 7:Stop the program
PROGRAM:
#include<stdio.h>
#include<unistd.h>
main()
{
int pid,pid1,pid2;
pid=fork();
if(pid==-1)
{
printf(“ERROR IN PROCESS CREATION \n”);
exit(1);
}
if(pid!=0)
{
pid1=getpid();
printf(“\n the parent process ID is %d\n”, pid1);
}
else
{
pid2=getpid();
printf(“\n the child process ID is %d\n”, pid2);
