System software: system software, an operating system and the utility

programs that come with it, such as those to compile (translate) programs into
machine code and to load them for execution. System software controls a
computer's internal functioning and peripherals such as monitors, printers, and
storage devices.
System software runs and functions internally with application software and
hardware. Moreover, it works as a linking interface between a hardware device
and the end-user.
System software runs in the background and manages all functioning of the
computer itself. It is called Low-Level Software as it runs at the most basic
level of computer and is usually written in a low-level language. As soon as we
install the operating system on our device, it gets automatically installed on the
same device.
System software helps to generate the user interface and allows the operating
system to interact with the computer hardware.
Ex: operating systems (OS) (like macOS, Linux, Android, and Microsoft
Windows, MsWord, spreadsheet etc)

Application software: Application Software Programs are developed to execute

a large variety of roles. The functions are not limited to but depend upon the
user’s need. Some of the most common functions of application software are:

1.Manipulating data
2.Managing information
3.Calculating figures
4.Constructing visuals
5.Coordinating resources
6.Writing reports
7.Creating spreadsheets
8.Manipulating images
9.Keeping records
10.Developing website
Ex: Microsoft products such as Office, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
1.Music Application Softwares like Pandora and Spotify
2.Skype, Google Meet, and Zoom are examples of applications that are
considered real-time online communication software
3.Team collaboration software like Slack
4.Internet browsers like Chrome, Safari, and Firefox
5.Multimedia Software like MX Player and VLC Media Player

Utility software: The Utility Software is system software that helps to maintain
the proper and smooth functioning of a Computer System. It assists the
Operating System to manage, organize, maintain, and optimize the functioning
of the computer system.
Utility Software plays several roles in maintaining the health of your computer
system. Its main functions include, but are not limited to:
1.System Maintenance
2.Data Compression
3.File Management
4.Security

Examples:
Antivirus Software:
It is used to protect a computer from the virus. It detects a virus and notify the
user and take action to secure the computer. The virus are kept in different
location called vault where it has different file system due to which virus effect
it. Some antivirus software are AVG, AVAST, MCAFEE.
File Management Tool:
The software is used to manage files stored in a file system. It can be used to
create, group file. Like windows file explorer is a file management tool.
File system (like FAT32, NTFS) should not be confused with File management
tool former is a data structure used to store file in an OS while later is used to
perform task on file stored in the file system.
Some examples of File management Tool are:
*File Manager in Windows.
*macOS Finder.
*Directory Opus.
*Dolphin in KDE.

Compression Tool:
These tool are used to reduce the size of a file based on the selected algorithm.
Most operating systems include tools for compressing and uncompressing files.
Linux has tools for both .tar.gz and .zip. Other compressed files, like .7z
and .rar, require a third-party compression utility to be installed.
Some Examples of compression softwares are as below.
*WinAce
*WinZip
*WinRAR
*7-Zip
*PKZIP
Disk Management Tool:
Disk Management is utility first introduced in Window XP as a replacement of
the fdisk command. It enables us to view or manage the disk drives installed in
their computer and the partition associated with those drives.

Some disk management tools are:

*Mini Tool Partition Wizard
*Paragon Partition Manager
*EaseUS Partition Master
*SMART Monitoring Tools
*AOMEI Partition Assistant
Disk Cleanup Tool:
It is computer utility maintenance which is included in Microsoft Windows. It
allows user to remove files that are no longer needed or that can be safely
deleted. Removing unnecessary files, including temporary files, can help to
improve the functioning and increase the free space of the computer. Running
Disk Cleanup at least once a month is an excellent maintenance task.
Some Disk Cleanup software are:
*Iolo System mechanic
*IObit Advanced systemCare
*Piriform CCleaner
*Razer Cortex
Disk Defragmenter:
It is a utility in Microsoft Windows designed to increase access speed by
rearranging file stored on a disk to occupy contiguous storage locations, a
technique is called Defragmentation. Defragmenting a disk minimizes head
travel, which reduces the time it takes to read files from and write files to the
disk. Some Example of Disk Defragmenter software are:-
*Auslogics Disk Defrag
*MyDefrag
*Perfect disk
*Defraggler
