Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs)

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. Apply and verify the basic concepts of classical mechanics in the lab setting.
2. Conduct experiments in classical mechanics and interpret data to draw conclusions.

1
3. Develop hands-on skills and analyze experimental data of classical mechanics.
4. Communicate effectively written reports and recognize ethical responsibilities.
5. Work effectively in a team.

Instructional Material & Learning Resources:

1. Lab manual
2. Demo video of experiments when useful will be posted on the Blackboard.
3. Students are encouraged to search the web for demo videos before attending the lab.
4. Laptop computers and/or iPads are necessary for the course.
5. Power point presentation for all experiments will be provided to students on
Blackboard.

Course Teaching & Learning Methods:

 Introducing the student to the tools and equipment to be used in the experiment.
 Experiment demo by the instructor to be followed by a discussion with the students.
 Performing the experiment by the students
 Data Analysis, results discussion and writing lab reports.

Course Policies:
 It is your responsibility to check the blackboard frequently for important announcements.
 Every student is required to use the online material (introduction and demo videos, as
well as the lab manual) to prepare for the lab before coming to the lab and expect a quiz
at the beginning of each lab.
 You are allowed to attend your section only. Always attend your lab on time to avoid
missing any lab activity.
 Eating, drinking, using cellphone … etc. are not acceptable inside the lab.
 Always ask if in doubt. Don’t make any assumptions.
 Missing a lab results in (0) mark for the report.
 Late lab reports will be penalized 25%-mark reduction per late day starting after the due
date/time.
 Report/quiz grades will NOT be changed after one week of grade announcement.
 Make up policy:
 NO make up for lab reports. The lowest report grade will be dropped.
 NO make up for quizzes. The lowest quiz grade will be dropped.
 Ethical responsibility grade will be based on the student discipline in carrying out his lab
duties:
 Attending the lab on time

2
 Rearranging the experimental setup before leaving the lab
 Disturbing the lab session by talking or playing
 Data falsification
 Plagiarism
