Exercise: Bowl

This exercise covers:


- Planar Surface
- Boundary Surface
1. Open the file Bowl.

2. Boundary Surface. Select two profiles and guide curve.


3. Circular Pattern. Create 30 instances of previously created surface around Axis 1.

4. Create the following sketch on the planar surface. Use a Convert Entities by selecting
existing edge of the surface.
5. Create a new Plane. As a first reference select Top Plane and as a second reference
the point as is shown.

6. On the new plane create a new sketch. This is semicircle (Center point and end points
are in horizontal relation).
7. Boundary Surface. For Direction 1 select two sketches previously created and for
Direction 2 select two edges as shown.

8. Circular Pattern. Select previously created surface. Number of instances is 30 and


Pattern axis is Axis 1.
If your model looks something like this one below you have made it.

EXERCISE: Candle Holder

This exercises covers:

 Swept Surface
 Revolving Surface
 Intersection Curves
1. Open file Candle holder.

2. Create a surface using Revolve Surface as shown.


3. Create a Helix with parameters as shown using a circle.

4. On the Top plane create a new sketch – Line between Origin and helix. Define Pierce relation
between Line and Helix.
5. Create a surface with Swept surface using sketch previously created and Helix.

6. Create a 3D Sketch using Intersection Curve (Tools / Sketch Tools / Intersection Curve). Select
Surface Revolve 1 and Surface Sweep 1. A 3D Sketch is created from the intersection of the two
surfaces.
7. Hide two surface bodies. Edit 3D Sketch1 and connect two curves previously created with a
line.

8. Choose solid Swept, select 3D Profile previously created and define diameter 0.260in.
9. Create Circular Pattern and created 12 instances of solid previously created around Axis1.

10. Create a sketch on the Front Plane for Base as shown and …
…and a sketch for Candle holder.

11. Use Revolve feature.

EXERCISE: Bottle

This exercises covers:

 Boundary Surface
 Planar Surface
 Revolve Surface
 Knitting Surface
 Fillet
 Thickening
1. Open file Bottle.
2. Use Boundary Surface (Lofted Surface also works). For Direction 1 select two profiles as
shown and for Direction 2 (Right click in the Direction 2 block and select Selection Manager –
Open Loop) four curves that connect those two profiles.

3. Choose Planar Surface and select all edges at the bottom to create a new surface.
4. On the Front Plane create the following sketch (2 lines). Use Pierce relation between the
point of the horizontal line and the horizontal edge.
5. Use Revolve Surface and create the following surface.

6. Knit the all surfaces into one by using Knit Surface.

7. Use Thicken tool with thickness 0.09in with direction to the inside of the bottle.
8. Create a new Plane with 0.09 in Offset Distance from the top face of the neck.

9. Create a sketch on the new plane by converting the upper circular edge.
10. Create a Sweep Path for the Thread by using Helix/Spiral as shown.

11. On the right plane create the following sketch. Add Pierce relation between midpoint of the
vertical line (0.08in) and path.
12. Use a solid Sweep and sweep the profile along the path to create the thread.

13. Create a new sketch by converting the face at the end of the thread.
14. Revolve the previous sketch around the vertical line (0.08in) to round off the ends.

15. Repeat the process from the step 13 for the second end of the thread.
16. Repeat the process from the step 14 for the second end of the thread.

17. Use a Fillet and round the bottom edges with radius 0.30in.
18. Use a Fillet and round the upper edge with radius .1in.

Exercise: Shovel

This exercises covers:

 Loft Surface
 Ruled Surface
 Fillet
1. Open file Shovel.

2. Choose Loft Surface. Select 2 profiles and a point. Right click on the Guide curves,
click Selection Manager and …
…choose 2 guide lines on the one side to create an Open Group and press ok.

Right click and choose Selection Manager again and choose 2 guide lines on the other
side.

Click ok.
3. On the Top Plane create the following sketch.
4. Choose Split Line. Select sketch and two faces as shown to split the faces.

5. Use Ruled Surface (Normal To Surface). Select four edges. Distance 3mm.
6. Create a 3D Sketch, choose Convert Entities and select the following edges.

7. Use Loft Surface. Select two profiles and guide curve as shown.
8. On the Plane 4 create the following sketch. Use Convert Entities and Offset Entities
1mm inside.

9. Extruded Boss. Extrude the previously created sketch 20 mm as shown.


10. On the Plane 4 create the sketch using Convert Entities inner circular edge.

11. Extrude previously created sketch 400mm. Uncheck Merge result.


12. Create the following sketch.

13. Revolve the previously created sketch around axis as shown.


14. Use a Fillet with radius 500mm and select the following edges.

15. Use a Fillet with radius 300mm and select the following edges.

Exercise: Joystick

This exercise covers:


- Surface Offset
- Knit Surface
- Ruled Surface
- Delete Face
- Boundary Surface
- Cut with Surface
1. Open the file Joystick.

2. Solid Lofted Boss. Select 2 profiles and 2 guide curves as shown.


3. Split Line. Use created sketch and surface to create a split.

4. Offset Surface. Select a face that was created by Split and offset distance 5mm in
reverse direction.
5. Hide the main body.

6. Ruled Surface. Select an edge of the surface with distance 20 mm.


7. Knit surfaces. Knit the following surfaces.

8. Show hidden body.


9. Cut with Surfaces. Select previously knitted surface.

10. Hide Ruled Surface.


11. Fillet. Fillet the inner edge with radius of 5 mm.

12. Fillet the outer edge with radius of 5 mm.


13. Delete Face. Select all faces that are created with fillets. Under options go with
Delete and Fill.

14. Split Line. Select two circles and a body to create a split.
15. Offset Surface. Select two faces previously created and create offset surfaces 1 mm
as shown.

16. Boundary Surface. Select two following edges to close the gap.
17. Boundary Surface. Repeat the process (Step 16) for the other split and offset surface.

18. Fillet. Select two edges as shown to create a fillet with radius of 5 mm.

PROJECT: Vintage Plane
1. Open the file Vintage Plane.

2. Boundary Surface. Select 7 profiles as shown to create a surface.


3. With Planar surface create a surface by choosing the shown edges.

4. Extrude Surface. Extrude the sketch up to surface with angle of 10 degrees.


5. Close the previously created surface with Planar Surface by selecting existing edges.

6. On the Right plane create the following sketch by using Style Spline.
7. Revolved Boss. Revolve the previous sketch as shown.

8. Create a new Plane 8 mm off from the Front plane.


9. On the new plane create an arbitrary sketch as shown for a blade.

10. With Extruded Boss create a blade (Depth 0.5 mm).


11. Turn on View temporary axes.

12. By using Circular Pattern create a three instances of body previously created.
13. On the Plane8 create the following sketch.

14. Split Line. Split the surface with the previously created sketch.
15. Delete Face previously created.

16. Use a Ruled Surface with distance 10 mm. Select the edges of the hole previously
created.
17. Extruded surface. Extrude the sketch (Mid Plane) 400 mm as shown.

18. Create a new Plane using edges of the surface previously created.
19. Create the following sketch on the new plane.

20. Revolve the sketch previously created by 180 degrees.


21. Mirror the surface previously created about Right plane.

22. Mirror the surfaces created in steps: 18, 20 and 21 about Plane 14.
23. Create the following sketch.

24. Extrude the sketch up to the vertex on the upper surface.


25. Mirror the previously created Feature about Right plane.

26. Create a new Plane using as a reference following edges.


27. On the new plane create the following sketch (Line).

28. Create the feature by using Swept Boss and the previously created line.
29. Mirror the previously created feature about Right plane.

30. Create a new plane with point and Front Plane as references.
31. Create a new sketch (1 line) on the previously created plane.

32. Create a feature with Swept Boss and previously created line (Diameter 5 mm).
33. Mirror previously created feature about Right Plane.

34. On the upper face create a sketch.


35. Extrude the previously created sketch 20 mm (Mid Plane).

36. Use the surface from previous sketch for trimming. Choose Mutual type.
37. Use Boundary surface and 2 sketches to create the following surface.

38. Create a new plane using the following edge.


39. Create the following sketch.

40. Create a new plane using three following points.


41. Create the following sketch (Arbitrary).

42. Create a surface with Boundary surface by selection two previously created sketches.
43. Mirror the surface previously created about Plane 31.

44. Mirror little wing about Right plane.


45. Create a new plane with offset 20 mm from Top plane.

46. On the new plane create an arbitrary sketch by using Style Spline and Offset Entities.
47. On the right plane create an arbitrary sketch as shown.

48. Hide Boundary surface 1 and by using a new Boundary Surface and two sketches
created in the previous steps create a new surface.
49. Mirror previously created surfaces about Right plane.

50. Show hidden surfaces. With Trim Surface (Mutual) trim surfaces that break inside the
Boundary Surface1.
51. With Planar surface close the end of the surface by selecting the following edges.
52. Knit the following surfaces.

53. Fillet the following edge (Radius 2 mm).
